Did you know it's today? National Coming Out Day, 30th anniversary.
I heard about it yesterday, and it emboldened me to come out to a small group of cis women who are business colleagues and friends. They were all really cool about it, and appreciated that I shared something so personal with them.
It turns out that one of them has two adult children who are transgender, one of each gender. I didn't know. She was quite emotional, called me strong. I think I heard a lot of confusion for her about her kids; wondering if she did something wrong, hurt that they don't talk to her these days, frustrated and confused.
I sent her a note and said that I thought the kids were lucky to be able to live their true selves while they were young, instead of waiting till later in life like me.
Tomorrow I'm going to tell my sister. Hold us in loving kindness.
Hugs, Lorie
Lorie, I had no idea until later in the day. It was wild. I came here and told my story probably just after midnight. Then when I found out what day it was I was almost guilty for not telling my wife, but that will take time and strategy and that's why I'm here. Glad it all worked out that way. We all need a first step.
Hearts and rainbows,
Aoife
I did not know this fact. Thank you and good luck with your kinfolk! Do let us know how it all turns out, sweetie!
Dame Veronica
Hi Lorie,
Fantastic for you, and I bet your co-worker feels just as good to know she and her children, are not alone. She has some one in you she knows from a professional standpoint which means she probably has trust in you in that respect, and may feel quite comfortable coming to you to discuss this wonderful thing you have in common with her and her children.
Bravo!
