Just wondering if there are others out there that are big/large/chubby/fat like me. Most times i see people cross-dressing they are on the smaller side. It would be nice to know i am not alone and there are others who have to deal with weight issues on top of any other issues arising from exploring this other side of ourselves. I am well over 300# and currently working out to try and lose weight, but it really can make finding clothes that fit a challenge.

Hi Amy, I'm definitely not small. As we get older our metabolism slows down. I'm lucky enough to have a physical job that keeps me going. I agree it is very difficult to find items that fit. I look at it as a reward/goal and try my best to get there. You're not alone sister you have many here supporting you.

Thats an interesting view to treat it as a goal/reward i should try that. Have been working out for about 6 months but have managed to stay the same weight because i have gained muscle. I hope that if i stick with it the pounds will start to come off. I cant help but imagine high heels are easier when your lighter lol.

I am not big, but I do have that man gut and that also makes getting clothing tough. I am working on an exercise routine ( I have back issues as well ) and want to drop some weight so I will be able to fit into the clothes I want. I am 200 lbs, but only 5'7"

Hi Amy,

Torrid and Lane Bryant cater to plus sizes and are both CD friendly.

I also have problems with width and length since I'm 6' tall and only now getting down to close to 200. But I do have clothes from when I needed a 3X/4X. Forever21 has Forever21+ for plus size clothing. I think they only go to 3X but prices are good. They had a sale and I got 5 tops for between $5 and $8 each. Plus a very cute PINK hooded fluffy coat that I've yet to wear out. At those prices they're obviously not top quatlity, but that's fine if you're going to lose more weight and they'll get too big for you.

Old Navy goes to 4x and it's another place for inexpensive outfits. Their swing and skater dresses are roomy but also cute. And I like that they use realistic plus size models so I can see how they look on a big girl like me.

I'm sorry and stocky, which works better in drab than in drag. I'm 5'7", weigh about 235, and have a pear shape instead of an hourglass. I use a lot of shapewear to adjust that shape to the extent it can be adjusted. Buying dresses is the hardest because the top end needs a much bigger size that the bottom end. I wear a 46 band size in bras, I can wear 14/16/18 shirts and pants depending on who made them, but due to shoulders (and beer...I mean belly) I need a 20-22 for tops/dresses. Skirt suits get complicated too, but some skirts are easy to tailor a bit to my advantage (I can sew when I need to). As others have said, Torrid and Lane Bryant are great. Hope this helps your feelings about the whole thing.

I am short and heavy.  Buy my new clothes and shoes at Torrid.  Sometimes I can find a few things at Walmart and a few things at Goodwill, but Torrid is my main go to store.  Torrid is the exclusive store for curvy girls, head to toe.  I love the place.

Those probably went to Goodwill as part of a space trade with my wife, but I'll check. My shoe collection is overwhelming my closet.

Their shoes are also good for women with wide feet, something hard to find. I have skinny feet but I like them because the sole, platform or wedge is noticeably wider than other shoes. For me it makes walking in them a lot easier. I have some wedge heels from Torrid that I don't have to think about every step I take. And they have a peep toe to show off the red polish.

Hi Amy,

Sign up for their emails and rewards programs.  The emails will let you know what’s on sale.  And the rewards programs are fun as you receive rewards in your birthday month and on reaching spending levels.
