It had to happen one day, it might as well be today.

Wifey was at work and I decided to dress and take my new car out to the city. My car was directly in front of my door, facing to the left so the drivers door is on the offside (don't forget, dear US users, that we drive on the left in the UK). There's no one around so I pop outside, turn and lock the door and go round the other side of the car to open it.

Now the people across the road, by coincidence, have also bought a new car and what do people do when they get a new car? They sit in it with the manual and find out where everything is, and this is what my neighbour across the road was doing and I didn't see him.

I was just opening the car door and starting to get in when I saw him, sitting in the driver's seat of his new car, looking right at me. I have been rumbled and my secret is out! I just looked at him, I didn't smile, didn't wave and tried to bluff my way through it as if I was a woman who was borrowing a car. I really doubt this strategy has worked.

Fortunately, they are not village gossips as far as I know, but he will certainly have told his wife by now and she knows neighbour A, who knows neighbour B and so on until it reaches someone who perhaps IS a village gossip.

It had to happen some time, it might as well be now.

@rebeccabaxter That is definitely being rumbled. Hopefully your neighbours respect your space.

@annaredhead I'm sure they will, they are really nice people and they love my dog, they always wave to her as she sits on the windowsill upstairs, watching the world go by. I just hope they are ok with it as they are lovely neighbours. I don't parade myself in the village and this won't change that as there are some folk here who are more right wing than a bird with no left wing!

@rebeccabaxter You will have to feel your way through meeting these people in the future.

The upside? Maybe you can get into your car while dressed without concerns, now.

Dont sweat it Becca,it had to happen, its done.Move on and be the lady that you are. From every negative comes several positives.Maybe they were also admiring your outfit or your womanly demeanor .You  and your wife now have several more opportunities to interact with your neighbors both for social occasions and educational occasions. It could be the neighbors wife is curious why and how a crossdresser can look so good.Time will tell.

@heels234 I doubt it will be a problem, enough people around here think I'm weird anyway, and those are the ones that like me and I couldn't two f's about the ones that don't. I'm sure I'm not the only cross-dresser in the village.

@rebeccabaxter Atta girl! About 1% or so crossdress, as far as I can determine, but the data is pretty thin.

Well it was only a matter of time Becca. Await any responses.

Happened to me ages ago when I was getting bold. A while later I was chatting with a neighbour and he mentioned he saw a lady drive my car. I told him I had loaned it to my sister and he bought it, the story not the car. A year or so later it was common knowledge and he didn't have a problem.

I'm afraid he was too close and I couldn't possibly pass myself off as someone else, he must know it was me. I just have to hope they are ok with it.

It does not matter if they are okay or not, if they have a problem with it, it is their problem, bot yours.

If you don't want to be seen dressed, then don't dress, or at keast don't go out dressed and pull the blinds. While I don't advertize my dressing I accept the fact that people may know, and I do not really care. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing what we want to wear. The fact others may have a problem is not within our control.

I am pretty sure my neighbor has seen me in a bikini in my backyard. It is my yard, and I will dress how I like.

It matters a little bit, but only if it makes them ignore us as we don't have that many people we speak to anyway and I'd rather not reduce the number of people we talk to even more.

In recent months, while it was never my intention to put myself out there brazenly, it was also not really satisfactory to keep in the shadows behind drawn curtains. I like being out in public dressed as a woman, it's a hobby that I'm quite enjoying and I'm not stopping. Everyone else will have to deal with it, it's just clothes and I'm breaking no laws.

This village has gays and lesbians galore—at one point, a few years ago, I swear we had more same-sex couples than Brighton (or San Francisco apparently)—so I'm not exactly a minority of one when it comes to activities outside the 'norm'.

A couple of years ago, I was in Cerys mode. This was before I was out and open about my crossdressing. I was tidying the house. My wife was upstairs in her office. I was vacuuming and just generally tidying. I remembered that I had left something in the boot (trunk) of the car. Without thinking I went out. It was a hot summer's day. I had a short skirt on and a light coloured short sleeved blouse. I got to the car, opened the boot and took out what I needed to get. I saw my neighbour and went over to chat with him. We talked for a while. Another neighbour went past an we said hello. I went back in the house... It was then that I remembered that I was in Cerys mode!!!!!
My neighbour never mentioned this again, until last year when I fully came out to all, and decided not to hide anymore. I saw my neighbour and went and had a chat, again in Cerys mode. I asked him if he was OK with it. He reminded me of the chat we had. He also added that he had seen me on a few occasions as I went to the car to go places. Cerys was no surprise to him, and he was perfectly OK with it.... I thought that I was so careful going to the car. Apparently, I was not 🙂

Your neighbours saw you. So what? It's one less secret. There's a chance that they have seen you before. Use this experience to free yourself a little.

Cerys.

@dazzler

Yes, Cerys, they probably have seen me before, just not quite so 'out there' and obvious. I know there is another neighbour just up the road who has seen me and another, a friend of a friend, who must have definitely had double-take when I drove past in the car en femme: "Was that...? Could that have been...?"

I think this is my [possibly subconscious) plan to slowly out myself so I can go en femme anywhere and anytime I like. What it needs is for someone to say something to me so I can have the conversation; no one does.

I know it's a bit nerve-wracking at first but over time it probably will turn out to not be a big deal. I got caught by my next door neighbors and they are fine with it.

Congratulations Becca on gaining your freedom!  I hope your neighbours who saw you are open-minded enough to just accept you for the person you are.

It sounds like you want to be out to your neighbors, and are just waiting for them to say something. They are probably doing the same, waiting for you to say something. It takes two to have a conversation, but either one can start it, so just start the conversation yourself.  They are not friends worth having if what you wear is enough to end a friendship.
