For those that are like myself which is around 6'0 tall with a husky build but not fat. Do you tend to leave your blouse, tops out or do you tuck it in. I myself leave it out gives me more of a feminine figure.

@lexinicole we are of similar size a build. I have a long torso which makes finding tops and blouses that are long enough without being too big elsewhere difficult. Same with simple T’s  so I generally wear my tops untucked.

@lexinicole I'm 6'0" also and wear either and 18 or 20 in a blouse. For me it depends on the rest of the outfit. Is it slacks, jeans, shorts or a skirt? Sometimes I tuck just the front of the top which seems to be the current "trend" and sometimes it's out or in. Mostly I go by what look I want to create with that top and bottom combination. Same goes for a belt. Sometimes I like the look and sometimes I don't.

Pretty much it's up to you and how you feel the look suits you, your mood and what your going for.

@cherylt Sounds like we are the same size Cheryl, I also will tuck just in the front or I will leave a bubble.

@lexinicole I’ve actually done both Lexi.  I’ve noticed that with some outfits, I think I look better with the top out.  There was an outfit with a houndstooth mini, black tights and a body suit that wouldn’t have look at all good with a top outside.

I’d say just look in the mirror and decide for yourself.  Even take some photos of both looks and that way you’ll know what is best for you.

Hannah McKnight once devoted an entire blog post to the 'to tuck, or not to tuck?' conundrum.

Her own go-to solution was bodysuits paired with a skirt of jeans/slacks.

They give the impression that you're wearing a separate top while at the same time overcoming the problem of whether or not it should be tucked in.

@lexinicole Lexi, I think I have an identical body to you judging by your physical description of your build. I'm almost 100% a dress girl. It's been too long to remember when I last owned a skirt and top. But I find myself pondering this question in male mode. T-shirt out or tucked in? I usually go tucked in xx.

I've got a similar build, and about 190 lbs. It's all down to taste really, unless you feel obliged to follow the latest fashions. I'm a 'no tuck' sort, although I do have blouses that buck this preference. I never ever tuck in tshirts be they 'male' or 'female' types.

Most blouses I see are a bit on the shorter side for my build. I find myself searching out longer blouses which means I can leave them out if I want. I'm quite a casual unisex dresser. I've always had the notion that tucked in equals 'more tidy'. I also like neutral t-shirt dresses that I can wear over jeans when I'm out and about in my local community. You can find them in all lengths, but I quite like a length that 'overhangs' and is long enough that I feel no concern as to my lack of 'tucking' in the other sense.

I'm shorter (5'5"). Up until a few years ago I was carrying more than a few extra pounds in my belly. I have lost a lot of weight. But I generally leave them out. It helps to hide a larger belly, and hides the fact that my waist is straight and not curved.

I'll occasionally tuck it in if the skirt is loose (since I lost weight) and I need the extra volume to keep it from falling off.

I am "only" 5' 10" but also have a long torso and a little of a gut.  I always wear them untucked.  It lessens the effect of no hips as well.

Untucked.   But it’s funny, when drab I always have my shirts tucked in. A guy wearing an untucked shirt looks incomplete.
But a gal with a blouse tucked in looks “strange.”
Go figure.   Staci

tucked into skirts.  I like the clean lines a blouse tucked in/skirt looks.  I find women's blouses tend to be long, so I find short ones.  When tucked in, it doesn't hide my vpl which i want.

Tucking in just the front was all the rage in Europe a year or so ago, and now I see it here as well. If done right, it can look cute, but it helps to be young and cute as well, neither of which I am.

Another option I've seen but not tried out is to tuck it in, but leave a bubble hanging out. You can then make this as long or short as you want.

I  also wear shape wear, it seems with a dress I maintain a feminine figure but with a skirt and blouse not so fortunate with the blouse tucked in.

Even us GGs have issues with blouses/tops!  I'm a little bit busty, so some tops (think blouses with dolman sleeves or bat wing sleeves) make me look rectangular.  I'll tuck in if the pants I'm wearing are flared at the bottom.  If I'm wearing leggings, or a skinny jean, I'll untuck the shirt and throw a blazer on top.  With dresses (because I too have a small paunch, I tend to go toward sheath/column dresses, which accentuate the shape without being too tight.

The one thing that I've carried with me all of these years is "balance".  With a wider bottom (flared pants or ruffly skirt), you want to bring the center in closer to the body, and allow for some width in the shoulders (think shoulder pads).

Have as much fun as you can as you decide what your look will be!  🙂

Hi Lexi,

I’m about your height with broad shoulders so generally don’t tuck my blouses/tops.

Hi Lexi,  Vertical stripes can move the eye away from your shoulders.  Or jewelry like a necklace or a pair of earrings can shift the eye away from your shoulders to minimize your appearance.
