Yesterday at the DMV, sitting for an hour and a half, started talking to a lady and her son. She asked if my shoes were dudes, said no I do not like dudes. So, as I proceeded to look who they were made by, I slip it off a little and not thinking, no soaks. A few toes showed, bright toe polish. She states polish on the toes. Nothing else was said. My wife sitting next to me did not flinch at the time, she is always afraid of someone knowing, I paint my toes. After we left, she stated did you see the reaction of a girl and her dad that was sitting there. I said no, I stated we will never see them again, so what is the problem. I know her mind was spinning, but nothing else was said, until next time.
Yeah, life goes on.
I was standing in a subway car in front of my wife and was oblivious to the couple beside her. I was trying to hide my bright red nail polish and my wife mentioned to me later about the young woman sitting beside her saying quietly to her partner that I was wearing women's shoes.
If you only knew, lady, if you only knew. 😁
Good for you for not panicking. I have been wearing polish on my toenails for quite a few years. My little way of keeping a little bit of Danni in the real world. Not to mention, I love the way it looks, so much better than boring old plain nails. Last year I began sneaking out in sandals during the summer (traditional Birkenstocks). I always leave the house feeling proud and not worried. Then I get in public and find myself trying to hide my feet from especially traditional type A appearing males. I just don't want the confrontation. I have tattoos on my feet and a full leg tattoo on my left leg. If anybody ever says anything about my toes I usually respond with "they look great, don't they" and then I remind them that it comes off fairly easily, unlike the colorful tattoos. Someday I hope to have no concern about it all. It really isn't a big deal and I have no idea why people care so much about it. Keep being you!
Danni
Danni, thank you and I agree. I will only be having painted toes for a few more weeks. Boating season and wife says it time for that to go.

I don't dress girly in public yet. But do pait my finger nails a nice pink. And most people don't even bat an eye. I had some people ask oh did your daughter paint your nails and I always replay no I did. And sometimes they will ask why and I'll tell I just want some color in my life or if lose in a game (big gamer) I can always look my nails and say hey I lost but a least my nails look nice.
I’ve been painting my nails too. I kind of forgot and went to see my physical therapist and she just looked at my toe nails, looked at me and just said “cute.” Then we carried on. I’m less concerned about the toes than the bra I’m wearing underneath my shirts. I’m constantly thinking about if people notice as the weather gets warmer. But then I remind myself it’s their problem if they have an issue with it.
There is no reason to worry about having painted toenails! I have been wearing painted toenails for over 10 years. My feet are in almost always in women's Birkenstock Marais sandals and my fire engine red toenails (OPI Big Apple Red) are always on display. Many males are wearing nail polish. If you don't believe me checkout the reddit group malepolish which has over 300,000 members. Also within the past 3 years there have been articles in GQ and other men's magazines promoting nail polish on men. It is no different that wearing a tattoo! The fear is only in your mind. Nobody cares what color your toenails are. Summer is the time to get a pedicure and have your toenails painted a bright color so that they are pretty in sandals. Just go for it girls. It is not a big deal!
And the problem is???
I have been painting my toes almost constantly for the past 10 years. Wifey knows, we even get pedicures together.
Where I live the warmer climate allows for sandals year round. I wear mostly gals sandals - flats, wedgies and heels - most all the time.
I have tried the rainbow spectrum of colors as well, most folks don’t notice or care, the ones who do are complimentary.
I figure if one is to wear sandals, your feet should look nice. Plus it makes me happy to look down at my painted toes!!
Enjoy your pedicures and painted toes.
Staci.
Staci, I totally understand, what you ae saying. I hate to have to get them up.
