You mean there is something outside of being a women ?? - hehehehe

Well I see where you are going, since the majority of us ladies cannot go out in our favorite skirt, dress or romper. lol

Like probably most of us, stuff around the house needs to get done, but as long as it is inside or out back I am still dressed. Just messaging one of the ladies today that I sometimes enjoy the inside house work honey-do's dress up like June Cleaver from the 50's and 60's era (pretty dress and heels) and that has it's own theroputic calm and then outside in cutoffs or swimsuit.

But outside of the home and honey-do's

I find that age has definitly put the kibosh on some of the stuff one would do growing up on the Florida coast. What seems like a life ago, I was always out with friends surfing and diving, taking out the airboat or runabout, camping and hunting. I / we (wife) still do some of that, BUT not with the consistancy as before - so now when I do surf it is with a long board and only when the waves are about 3' - not the giant overhead stuff in my youth. The airboat can be alot to handle (especially with all the critters out there) so we got a little day sailer - soooo much easier than the bigger racing sailboats that Jennifer used to do -

How fun is that !!!  So I commend you on that my dear.  🙂

And although not near often enough I get in the water, but not the offshore deep dives anymore - but the shallower reef dives.

Still camp a lot, but summer heat is brutal so the season is just now starting here - and of course tent camping makes it hard to get up off the airmattress and go to the ladies in the middle of the night, lol (maybe it is time to get a popup camper) - we enjoy walking the beach when there is a rocket launch. And now SpaceX sometimes lands the first stage back at the launch site, so it is like a double feature movie. (need to bring more popcorn)

So for us seasoned ladies - isn't it funny how the brain thinks we are still in our 20'and 30' - but the aches and pains say after 60's ??  hehehehe

@erinb

I remember the Saturn Vs from the sixties and early seventies; so impressive. I seem to remember a statistic about the Saturn V rocket in that it burned 36,000lbs of fuel in the 3.6 seconds between ignition and lift-off; sounds a lot but it might be true. In any event, it was an amazing sight to see it take off (in black and white on a 425 line TV).

@erinb They always ask people where they were and what they were doing when JFK was shot, or war broke out, or when the twin towers went down. There is only one thing where I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing and that was when the Challenger shuttle blew up.

I was in a room in a hotel in Maidenhead, Berkshire UK, with an American woman who had come to my company from Boston to lead a training course, room 14, to be precise; we had somewhat hit it off, if you know what I mean. We came in from a day out with the prospect of, well, you know, two people in a hotel room! We put the TV on, only to see a news bulletin of the Challenger disaster. We sat on the bed, all thoughts of an amorous evening put to one side. We were both affected since both of us were in electronics and technology-related industry and also the fact that she was American.

I did think that was going to be the end of the shuttle program but it carried on until 2011.

Space launches are now pretty commonplace and while I get annoyed by Elon Musk's pollution of the night sky with his thousands of Starlink satellites, his other programs regarding spaceflight are very exciting. It's ironic that the very satellites that annoy me are also one of the things that is paying for the rest of his space program, including Mars landings.

I'd love to be alive when (if) humans lands on Mars but I think I will be long gone; shame really.

As a "Senior" on here a couple of my main hobbies have gone by the board or are in "health induced limbo". 1/. I used to be a very keen saltwater "fisher", (cant be sexist these days). But I no longer live near the sea so that's gone. 2/. Reasonably proficient guitarist, (two electrics and an acoustic, (but with a pick up inside..) .

A long term lower back problem means I've been too scared to lift one, let alone play it...Also means I try to walk a lot for exercise.

Always been a reader and sometime writer. EG 13 published articles on CDH!

Over the last few years I have taken up walking around my neighborhood (usually en femme). I often use the time to catch up on podcasts or to listen to music. Even in the cold winter months, I go out with my ankle length coat and can get in about 3 miles. Being introverted, this gives me quiet time, even if I have made a friend while walking (who only knows me as Alison).

I've also taken up exercise classes at work, a resistance training class and Pilates. I'm going to miss these when I retire soon; I'm going to have to find a gym where I can do these activities.

I enjoy listening to music, and occasionally playing, although I haven't done that in years. I used to play recorder with a number of other people, but that fell apart when some of the people passed away. One elder woman I used to play with I later found out was a physicist back in the days when there weren't many women in that field. I have 4 different sizes, sopranino, soprano (what you typically think of as a recorder), alto, and tenor.

I'm also fairly involved in my synagogue. There always seems like there is something to do, and I help out when I can. Sometimes it is leading or helping out with services, other times it is more behind-the-scenes stuff like lighting the memorial boards or rolling Torahs to the correct place.

I enjoy photography, and would like to be able to get better at it. Maybe some books or courses at a community college would help. I've also done a little sewing, and might consider taking that up more too.

I'd also like to take more time traveling, now that I'm getting ready for retirement.

Evenings are usually spent watching baseball or hockey (depending on the season). I'm also a big Jeopardy! fan. For those outside of the US and Canada, Jeopardy! is a game show that originally started in the 60's. It is a quiz or trivia show format, but because it was created shortly after the game show fixing scandals in the 50's (see the movie Quiz Show), Jepopardy adapted an "answer and question" format, where the "clue" is given as a statement (or answer), and the contenstants have to answer in the form of a question.

In younger days team sports, footballer, rugby union and 6-aside volleyball. I have been a runner for many years - these days mostly off road and I've done a fair bit of mountain running and walking. Also I like to kayak, have done several kayak marathons when I was younger.

Indoors, I've been a model maker and figure painter my whole life. The figures I paint are large-scale female which are good for trying complexion and makeup ideas on. I also collect art, porcelain and various odd antiquities.

Also a music-lover, used to go to a lot of gigs (still get to a few) and can't resist a record shop. Sadly, no talent to be able to play an instrument.

This is an excellent topic Erin. I’ve been of the mindset since I arrived at CDH that there needs to be a “hobbies” category in the profile section we girls fill out on here. That would help us get together with like-minded ladies. At least here in our virtual girly world.🥰

I used to really follow pro sports but not so much in recent years due to not being able to stand many of today’s athletes. That said however, I am looking forward to a decent World Series. I live in an area with a heavy East Coast sports bias, surrounded by New Englanders who think the only MLB team that exists is the Yankees. So, much as I hate to, being from the Bay Area of California…go Dodgers!

Myself, I love drawing, music, and playing sports. Staying active mentally and physically.

I’m so with Amanda on music…I like VARIETY. I hate that music is so pigeonholed today. Growing up, if it was a good song, it made the Top 40. So I became accustomed to enjoying music from all genres. And not just the most popular, overplayed junk that you get today.  I never thought that I’d end up retired in my 60’s and still hearing Journey and Queen songs as if they’re brand new bands. Over and over….Enough! Most of the friends I have today don’t even know who the Smiths or Depeche Mode are. Which is pretty sad.

Imaging myself outdoors on a boat, in a swimsuit is a really far out fantasy that will NEVER happen. (Well, maybe if it’s a decent sized boat with a couple staterooms where my drab stuff is stashed.) But it is fun to think of a group of us girls - all of us on a boat in our summers best bikinis and one-piece suits, (the 4 chicks in the Leeds photo come to mind🥰). The sticky question would be: “Do we all help rub the suntan lotion on each other’s hard to get to areas””🤣

As far as skydiving while dressed. And in a leather skirt no less Bobbi? Wow. Now I’ve heard it all for sure. I have a pilot friend who likes to say: “There’s never any reason to jump out of a perfectly good airplane.” I concur with him😊.

Fun stuff in the Society of Secret Girls today🥰

@gracepal Grace, somewhat sadly I belong in the minority who think there's never any reason to get into a perfectly good airplane. Somewhat limits my globetrotting ambitions. Although I am going to the Caribbean for 35 days next year on a boat xx.

Well you’ll LOVE that Chrissie. I love being on boats. I like to cruise on small ships and sometimes I never even get off the boat, depending on the island. After a few of those islands I tend to lose track. I get back and people say, “What islands did you see?” My answer is usually - “A little island with great weather and a nice beach with restaurants. Saint….something.😊”  Which would cover all of them.

I hear ya about flying. Never been a big fan myself but unfortunately it’s a necessity to go certain places. My dad worked at Boeing in the 60’s and said he’d NEVER get on a plane because he sees who works on them! That always stuck with me. But on the opposite end is my friend the pilot who says he’d take an airplane over an automobile every time.

I used to fly a lot for business but very rarely now. Which is a good thing as I dislike traveling with people wearing pajamas.

@gracepal Grace, I'm not too bothered about getting off the boat but the missus is dead keen so we've booked a few excursions. I have a friend here on CDH who went on a cruise totally en femme. Not much chance of that for Chrissie 😂.

I know flying is statistically the safest form of travel. I've been quite happy to get back behind the wheel of a car after recovering from injuries sustained in four car accidents, but you won't get me on a plane. It's a proper phobia! xx.

@chrisfp99 4 accidents? Well, the good news is your odds of a 5th are pretty low since you’ve had your share already Chrissie!

If you ever do have to get on a plane my advice is to: “Start drinking heavily.” - John Belushi as Bluto in “Animal House”

@gracepal I've flown twice, on my honeymoon. It would have been once but I couldn't find a job as a Portuguese fisherman 😂. I had nine pints of lager before the return journey but sobered up immediately I got on the plane, leaving me with a terrible hangover and sheer terror 😂 xx.

And since this is fresh on my mind AND outside of crossdressing. Last night I watched a movie based on a YouTube reviewers recommendation. “The Pledge” with Jack Nicholson.

It immediately goes into my Top 10 Worst Movies of all time. What a piece-o-crap!!! There’s two hours I want back because I could have been doing something productive like dressing up as a girl!🥰

Seriously though, one of the worst movies I ever watched. Started bad, got worse…(more and more unbelievable)…SLOW as watching paint dry. To get to an ending that there is no excuse for IMHO. Not even a “bad movie “ worth watching. If I had been watching on a DVD I would have ejected it after 20 minutes and frisbee’d it out the window!!!

One of my main interest outside of my dressing is golf, I would love to turn up in the summer to play in a skort and a nice summer top, oh how I envy watching the ladies play in the summer time.I also think that would push a lot of the older members over the edge.
Also until earlier in the year I use to play a Baritone horn in a local brass band.

so similar to other ladies, being outside and music.

Samantha xx

I build scale models and enjoy working on cars in my spare time, although it's a bit difficult to do either while dressed. Might be time for a jumpsuit to wear while doing that.

My biggest non-dressing activities are music - I play several instruments and record my own stuff, as well as playing guitar and 'singing' in a band - reading, films, and 1/35 scale military modelling - mostly British, Second World War stuff.

@annaredhead 1/700! I used to do the old Airfix 1/600 ships when I was a kid and they were just... you must have good eyes!

Having said that, I sometimes 'treat' myself and buy the photo-etched detail sets for the 1/35 stuff. My missus finds it highly amusing at the amount of swearing that I do when the tiny parts go pinging from my tweezers and get lost in the carpet, or I manage to superglue myself together 🙂

@caroline2k These days, I've got good magnifiers. I'm sure 1/700 has wrecked my eyes.

The etch in 1/700 can be ridiculously tiny and frustrating, such as a multi-part assembly, now better done by 3d printing. Etch has made some things easier, such as the ratlines on sailing ships.

@joannat My railway has been in storage for about 20 years. It's a "one day" project. It's OO GWR terminus about 20 feet long on 3 boards - the station and village got built, the rest of it never did.

@erinb It was started in 1997 - baseboards are 2' wide, 3' long and was last worked on about 1999, but has been run a couple of times since. It's all analogue with insulated points. It represents a Great Western terminus with 2 platforms and a cattle dock. A line like that would be run by tank engines, but the headshunts are big enough to hold a mainline 4-6-0 express engine. I've got a lot of locomotives that have probably appreciated in value even though a lot of them are 30 or so years old.

@annaredhead My own modelling is narrow gauge in 16mm scale running on 0 gauge track. Live steam and battery power.

The railways at work that I look after, are G scale LGB electric and 10.25” gauge. Some 009 is planned in its own dedicated building.

I really enjoy hill walking (one of my favourite weekend actvities is a long hill walk followed by a couple of pints of real ale in a nice country pub). I have also become quite a keen runner (my favourite way to unwind after work is to run for 4 or 5 miles). I only really got into these 2 activities during the Covid lockdowns when I found that they really did wonders for my well-being and have continued. I also enjoy listening to classic rock and metal music (favourite bands are ACDC, Metallica and Iron Maiden).

Retired mechanical engineer here.

Going back to childhood my passion was always motorsports. I’ve seen all sorts of disciplines all around the US. In addition I’ve been doing a lot of volunteer stuff that I never had time for when I was working. One reward is that I am the 2024 Volunteer of the Year as awarded by the Palm Springs Pride group.

I can’t really say that I have hobbies outside my cross dressing because I always try to intertwine my Hobbies with a little cross-dressing whether it’s going to the beach and underneath my shorts I have my bikini on or out hunting or fishing and I have usually something feminine on underneath, I love to go to Jeep shows I have a jeep that I show off, I also go to car shows, I love camping and metal detecting but again try to put on At least something feminine on, just to give me my girly high, I loved to read about all your hobbies, and stories, It’s nice to know that deep down we are all the same, along with a touch of secret,❤️🌹

Guess it's about time I put a post in this thread 🙂  These days everything I do is done as Fiona, but outside of work my main leisure enjoyments are music and the owner's club for my cars, that I'm an admin of.

My era in popular music is definitely late 70's/early 80's but for me, music is best served  more complex, while not too dissonant.  Lots of prog, especially the more symphonic or jazzier corners of it.  Some classical, the more modern stuff from the 19th century onwards.  I take it all apart in my head and I used to recreate what I could on the piano (I played from a very early age), 70's Genesis was really good for that.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, the cars are Audi A2's from the early years of the century, that will be unfamiliar to any girls from outside Europe.  They're a rare sight over here now, too.  My best friend, and the guy who's known Fiona the longest, is the resident electronics guru of the owners club that I'm a forum admin for.  He makes a fair amount of his living from sorting out all manner of electrics-related issues, and retro-fitting upgrades from the original options list.  I'm very pleased that he's due here at the end of this week, to stay for a couple of weeks 🙂

During that time, various other A2's will turn up on my driveway for attention.  We will both know many of the owners from online, or from socials and previous residencies like this, quite well in some cases.  Those new to us will quickly become friends!  I'll help with anything that doesn't involve any electronic ability, and generally enjoy the whole social aspect.  This will be the first time that Fiona gets to be the hostess!  But I've been out to the club as a whole since July (I'm now FinallyFiona there as well), and I've messaged everyone who's coming, so there should hopefully be no surprises!

@finallyfiona Fiona, interesting what you say about taking the music apart in your head. I have perfect pitch so I can listen to a piece of music once and know what all the notes are. Unfortunately at my advancing age it takes me another 50 listens to remember what order they come in 😂. But here's the thing. Perfect pitch is with me 24/7. You can't turn it off. Heck I only have to hear a church bell and my brain's going Eb. So I always deconstruct any piece of music. It just clicks in subconsciously. I know immediately what the bass is doing, the guitar, strings, vocals. But what I never hear is 'the music'. I think this is why I never ever listen to music unless I'm learning a new song for a band. Frankly it mostly irritates me. So I never listen, but absolutely love to play. It really is a double edged sword.

Hugs, Chrissie xx.

@chrisfp99 I used to have perfect pitch too, I'd be able to tell immediately what key most pieces of music were in and what the chords were, and remembering melodies etc just came naturally.  But it's slipped a bit in recent years and now I'm a semitone or even a tone off sometimes.

I'm not sure I ever listen to a piece of music as a whole either, more as a stream of experiences.  I'll appreciate things like interplay of the parts, recurring/developing themes, and the imagination of the composer and skill of the musicians, at various points.  The music I like most is stuff that's complicated enough that I can't necessarily work out straight away what the chords are or what the time signature is.  I especially like where that changes a lot, and odd meters like 5/4 or 7/8 and how they can sound so natural.  Certain sounds or rhythms just seem to attract me too.

@finallyfiona Fiona, my perfect pitch largely remains, but I am significantly deaf. Hearing aids help a bit but they're not perfect. So I struggle to identify particularly high frequency notes, but also very low ones.

@chrisfp99 That came as something of a surprise, I don't remember seeing you mention hearing aids before?  I'm sorry to read that Chrissie, and huge respect to you for carrying on with the bands with the challenges that must involve.

Hugs,

@finallyfiona Fluff, playing in bands is fine. It's just places with a lot of people. Pubs, restaurants. I really struggle to hear conversations and sometimes just zone out. One develops the skill of nodding and saying 'uh ha' at suitable points. But the most frustrating thing is that my wife, who of course knows me best (although not everything about me 😂) just won't raise her voice when speaking to me. I must say pardon a hundred times a day 😂.
