Hi everyone! Hugs.
I don't know if this has ever been brought up, but I haven't seen this topic during my time here, so I thought I would share my thought with you.
Today I wore a pair of undies that had white carnation flowers all over them; White on black. I had a moment this evening to catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and really fell in love with these undies. Then it hit me...
I can't speak for everyone, but as a young boy in the 70's and 80's, we had boys underware with our favorite themes or characters on them. They were colorful, full of cool themes and characters. We felt so cool to be expressing ourselves through them. Many remember them as underoos.
Flash forward to adulthood and outside of "novelty" boxers, name given to make men feel more manly I guess, Men's undergarments, especially underware, are drab, cookie cutter and do not come in many patterns or designs.
When I saw myself in my undies, I remembered the feeling I had when I would see my younger self in Star Wars or GI Joe Underoos. I was expressing things I liked or had an emotional/stylistic connection with in my under garments.
I don't understand why it is so taboo to give men the chance to express themselves in adulthood, like Underoos did when they were boys.
I honestly believe the biggest draw to women's panties and bras is not the feeling, so much as the ability to express ourselves, through our under garments, with Patterns and Designs, that mean something to us.
In a bid to look 'Gangsta' didn't young guys wear the jeans halfway down their thighs with the band of the boxers showing a famous brand waistband? Expressing themselves by showing off the underwear .
Dear Stephanie,
I feel male gatments are like uniforms: functional , predictable and dull. They were designed to make one blend in, styles and designs often reference one another. Maybe it came from the streotypical expectation boys were going to "play outside" and thus dull colours/function/comfort was the priority. Eventually this became how men "work" and thus the uniform of "t-shirt and jeans" came around.
Female garments on the other hand, encourage self expression and self care. Look at the range of different type of shoes available!
Its especially prevalent in lingerie as inner wear, majority of the designs have no practical function besides expressing oneself. Which in hand makes one comfortable and thus confident.
I could go on forever on this topic! Thank you for bringing this up!
Glamourously and gracefully,
The Bluest Belladonna

What an interesting topic. You are so right about boys and underoos. Unfortunatley for me that wasn't something that was available when I was young, it was either tightie whities or boxers, which was determined by what your father wore. These days there are more choices of style, color and fabric but they are still uncomfortable and boring. On the other hand women's panties offer a wide variety of style, colors and patterns and fabrics. I find them to be more comfortable as the material is lighter.

I love prints which appeal to my artistic sense. A floral or geometric print dress or blouse are my favorites. As far as lingerie goes, I love lace. It make me feel so feminine when I'm wearing it.
Yes the sheer variety of patterns are just so much fun. Don’t also forget the variety of different types from g string, thongs, Brazilians, full brief, high waist, boy shorts, to control wear, etc. Oh and the fabrics, silk, satin, lace, cotton, and sometimes even little embellishments, ribbons, frills, little jewels.
Life en femme is just so much more fun.

I am too old for boys' print underwear, we had white briefs and later horrid cotton boxers which did have patterns, but not characters. I do remember getting my first rayon noxers and realized they could actually feel nice, but they were still just boxers. When I started getting into my girlfriend's pants I realized how nice pa ties could be. Of course, I was already enamored with lingerie in the Sears catalog. Wearing my soon-to-be wife's pa ties was what sent me over the edge. Not only did they look sexy, but felt wonderful. The rest is, as they, history.
Angela I can't stand that sagging look. As far as I know it originally came from the prison system as a way for a prisoner to let another prisoner know he was open for business. Male clothing no longer touches my body. It feels and looks like a potato sack to me. Even the silk boxers I have have been retired. For the last seven years all I've worn is wemens, even my glasses. When im in " guy mode" its from the wemens dept. Doesn't matter if it's undergarments or outerwear. The colors, patterns or textures are far better in the wemens dept.
