Hi ladies, has anyone ever had the opportunity to perform as a Drag Queen? Has anyone wanted to but didn’t know where to start? Performing in a Drag show can be so much fun, even for a beginner. My first time performing began as a dare from my best friend. She did her first show during an open stage night at the club we go to. After his performance, he said that it was my turn, “I dare you”. I talked to the Queen that hosted the show and she booked me for the next open stage. I did it and had so much fun!!!! Since then, I’ve done several more, always trying to improve my drag style. Once you get bit by the drag bug, it’s addictive. Surprisingly, I was 68 when I did it, so don’t let age scare you away.
I never performed as a drag queen but I helped a drag queen, named Bubble Rena, (not sure I spelled the last name right) with his portfolio and billboard. You see, my x use to work with this photographer who did photo shoots for female impersonators and drag queens, and they always asked me to help in moving props. Anyways, this drag queen worked with two other drag queens who dressed as showgirls. They, however, didn't show up for the shoot, so Rena asked if I would fill in as his showgirl for the shoot. Understand that my X was the only one there who knew that I cross-dressed, so I acted as if I really did want to do that. In reality, I wanted to in hoped of picking up some tips. The was result was that I wound up as the showgirl in Rena's portfolio and billboard. All this took place many years ago when drag queens weren't that well know like they are today. Not even sure if Rena is still alive. He was really overweight, thus his name Bubble.
