As I was unpacking our Costco grab of the morning, packing the freezer, and folding kitchen towels, I thought about these things.  There is a concept called “Subsidiarity” that maintains that issues, concerns, or problems are best handled at the lowest level, closest to the matter.  It’s a position that theoretically amounts to savings because of better response with less waste.  So, what if those of us who got and will get further Covid19 relief, but don’t really need the money, gave this money to feed, clothe, or care for the needy; you know, the ones that our programs are suppose to help.  Just a thought!

During the pandemic, we are spending less, managing our resources better, and (for me) making virtually no impulse purchases from Poshmark or my favorite thrift stores.  Although it never seemed like I spent a lot, it must have added up to more than I imagined.  But, yesterday I notices that my wife had placed one of her tunics (my favorite) in a bag to go to charity.  Although I loved it on her, I always longed to try it on.  When she went out this morning, I pulled the tunic out of the bag and tried it on with some skinny black faux leather jeans and then some white jeggings; with heeled sandals and then stiletto pumps.  Both outfits looked fabulous!  I hope she does not re-examine the bag contents before the donation.  This was my good fortune at no additional expense.  Just a little unintended gift!

Falecia,

Thank you for putting this out there.  I’m one of the fortunate and blessed that didn’t need the COVID relief cheque that I received.

I believe in tithing, so my church got the first cut of it and I offer the following as an idea that may spur someone else on....

I took the remainder of that money and converted it all to cash and I kept $100 in twenties on me at all times, looking for opportunities to do something good with it for someone in need, or who looked like they might be.  I called it my ‘random acts of kindness money,’ and I’m ashamed to say that it actually took me a while to go through it all, but what an amazing reward came with it!  The last of it went when I paid the bill for a minivan with a bunch of kids in it, and a stressed-out looking woman at the wheel, behind me in line at the Arby’s drive-thru window.  Best $68 I’ve ever spent....she needed it and was so thankful.

Don’t get the wrong idea - I’m no saint, and I am a good crossdresser after all, so I did treat myself to a new lipstick on the way home....L’Oréal Colour Richie #120 in Rouge St Germain.....  Hey, we can look good AND feel good at the same time, right?  I sure did!

Hi Marcellette,

I call it "paying it forward, but I'm also Blessed with financial independence, so I shared my second COVID check when it arrived unexpectedly; half to my church's Disaster Relief Fund, and the rest to a couple of charities I like (and one political contribution). And it felt good to do this, just knowing that I can. Also, I'm old enough to see the truth in the old saying "You can't take it with you".

Hi Felicia I'm always going through the charity bags when my wife has a clear out, most of my clothes are my wife's that she was getting shot of she and i are roughly the same size so her dresses and other clothes usually fit me and it saves me lots of money x

Oh Marcellette!

Beautiful stuff. Perfect as always.

As Deion Sanders once said, “look good, feel good; feel good, play good!”

Just curious; when was the last time that great poet “Prime Time” was quoted in a cross dressing forum?” 😂 😆 😝

Great post, Falecia!

I’m a strong believer in this principle and in the idea that people should decide for themselves where they should spend their charitable resources and efforts rather than the government dictating it. That said, we all need to follow through and put our money where our mouth is. So here are some more ideas:

I believe they are still looking for people who had COVID but haven’t been vaccinated yet to get blood from them for the antibodies.

What about volunteering at a women’s shelter or crisis pregnancy center?

Tutoring a student who can’t go to school?

Donating some of your lesser used girly stuff to the clothing closet at church?

Etc etc.

Bettylou,

From the moment I arrived here, I have appreciated your soft, sensitive, unselfish feminine heart. More proof here!

I suspect the answer might surprise you.  Prime seems more actualized than lots of jocks!

Oh my, you make me blush, Stephanie. I'm really not doing any more than I ought to, and as I said, I have been financially blessed, so it's no burden.

Hugs,
Bettylou
