Hello Ladies,
Let me clarify my question from the start, I am NOT in any way asking for medical advice.
As most of you you know I have Prostate Cancer which is very much treatable and curable. So I'm not afraid of it at all. Just go in do my Radiation Therapy for a few weeks and get it over with.
Right now, it is only pliminary, my treatments will consist of several weeks of Radiation Therapy and Hormone treatment. It's the Hormone that I am talking about here.
According to the doctor and Nurse and everything that I have read my breast should get bigger and that is the reason for the Hormone treatment, because my testosterone level will drop to a very low level and needs to be replaced.
Although it was not stated by the doctor or nurse I should be receiving testosterone but I would rather have Estrogen or some other female Hormone.
Ever since high school I have always wanted a nice pair of breast and I believe this is the way I can get them. So does anyone have any experience in this situation or knows someone who has.
Thanks,
Kathleen xxxxx 💋♥
Hi Kathleen,
From the UK NHS information website on Prostate cancer care, here is the information on Hormone treatment which you may find useful.

Hormone therapy
Hormone therapy is often used in combination with radiotherapy. For example, you may receive hormone therapy before undergoing radiotherapy to increase the chance of successful treatment.
It may also be recommended after radiotherapy to reduce the chances of cancerous cells returning.
Hormone therapy alone does not cure prostate cancer. It can be used to slow the progression of advanced prostate cancer and relieve symptoms.
Hormones control the growth of cells in the prostate. In particular, prostate cancer needs the hormone testosterone to grow.
The purpose of hormone therapy is to block the effects of testosterone, either by stopping its production or by stopping your body being able to use testosterone.
Hormone therapy can be given as:
- injections to stop your body making testosterone
- tablets to block the effects or reduce the production of testosterone
- a combination of the 2
The main side effects of hormone treatment are caused by their effects on testosterone. They usually go away when treatment stops..
Other possible side effects include:
- hot flushes
- sweating
- weight gain
- swelling and tenderness of the breasts
An alternative to hormone therapy is to surgically remove the testicles (orchidectomy). This does not cure prostate cancer, but by removing the testosterone, it controls the growth of the cancer and its symptoms.
Many men prefer to have hormone treatment to block the effects of testosterone.
Thank you Dawn for the information. Although I had previously read several articles and talked to my doctors I stil learned a lot from this article. Thanks again.

Good luck, Kathleen.

Hi Kathleen, I wish you well with your therapy
I have no experience with it, but I do have an enlarged prostrate, no cancer yet thank heavens, and I am taking medication for it.
Im intrigued by the article from Dawn, though(thank you, Dawn), and may have to talk to my Dr about it.
