Are there stores you go to that you can ask advice on bras, dresses, panties and get a straight answer? Sales people that will give you advice on how you look in different dresses and outfits

@suzielou

I'd like to think that sales staff would give you an honest reply if you asked them for their opinion about an item of clothing. I'm trans, and I find that if I tell people that from the outset I always get a good response. You'd be surprised just how often staff in women's clothing stores encounter crossdressers buying for themselves.

Having said that, since I'm cynical by nature I always have a lurking suspicion that they're telling me that something looks good in order to encourage a sale.

For that reason, I take my sister clothes shopping with me wherever possible. I can rely on her to be brutally honest!

Members here find good bra stores everywhere. My experience indicates that sales clerks are quite willing to help me as a CD. Just be serious, don't be nervous, don't waste their time by not knowing what you want or need before entering the store. If a clerk approaches you while you are trying to help yourself, let her help you.

Panties on a male body may be out of their experience. You need underwear which keeps your hardware in control. To me, that means a 3" wide gusset or larger. Triangular thongs don't work for me. The cut and style is up to you.

On the other hand, I have never had to ask a clerk if a dress looks good, so I can't relate to that.

Hi Sue,

It’s best to visit a retail store in person and try something on for fit.  Many shops have mirrors in the changing room to look at the drape of your dress or skirt or the sizing/fit of a bra.  Both Torrid and Lane Bryant are CD friendly and you can ask for a bra fit.  You are welcome to come in in drab or enfemme.  Soma is good too for helping with a bra from what I’ve heard. January is the month for their semi annual lingerie sale so deals are to be had.  If you have breast forms bring them with you for your bra fitting.

if you have a larger physique as many males do both Lane Bryant and Torrid carry plus sizes.  The sales associates are very good with the inventory after you tell them what you’re looking for.

You need not feel anxious or nervous as the stores help CD’s all the time.

I'm going off a memory of what I think someone said somewhere, so take it with a grain of salt. I believe someone said that they had good experience with Macy's personal shopper (or I think they now call it personal stylist).
