Now that it's the Christmas season, one of our local radio stations goes 24/7 Christmas songs. The other day while driving, they played one of my favorite songs, "Santa Baby". It got me to thinking. As far as I know, there are three versions. The original by Eartha Kitt, then Madonna did a version, and the one I heard in my car by Taylor Swift.
It is such a cute song and it got me to wondering. Which is the favorite among my sisters here on CDH? My favorite is definitely the Eartha Kitt version. She is so cute yet sultry. The Taylor Swift version is more jaunty. The Madonna version, well, let's just say I hated it from the beginning LOL.

It just must be the original by Eartha Kitt,nobody sings that song like her.
@heels234 That's true. I just listened to a few version of this classic song and nobody has a voice like Eartha's.
Kelly Clarkson changed the song so much that's it's barely recognizable. Madonna's was sung in a Betty Boop voice. Gwen Stefani's has harmony back-up singers. At least she didn't change things too much. Lindsey Stirling knows how to dance and somebody modernized the song for her. Taylor's? Meh. Kylie Minogue? Breathy. Somebody said that Marilyn Monroe sang it. That would be interesting. So would hearing what Amy Winehouse would have done with it.
Now that is one very transactional song! The deed to a platinum mine? Yeah, right.

Whilst the original is great for fun Marilyn Munroe did a cute version and, in a similar fashion by Kyle Minogue which I remember too.
@ab123 I couldn't seem to find a version by Marilyn Monroe. On You Tube there is a video with pics of Marilyn, but the singer didn't sound like her. One comment said that it was actually Kylie Minogue singing. Thanks for the info!

@billiejay I didn't realize there were others. They never seem to get air play. I couldn't seem to find an actual version by Marilyn or a version by Lady Gaga. Perhaps I just missed them. Thanks for your comment and info!
None of them, matter of fact I, unfortunately, hate this song now. Years ago I did I music video to this song, lyrics were changed. Anyway long story short, the woman kept changing the dance number and the edit (which I was the editor) she had more money the sense. She hired a choreographer, voice coach and a director. All for a Palm Beach engagement party video. She kept re-editing for two weeks. Two weeks of “Stanley Baby!” So it brings back real bad memories. But Madonna is who I heard first and enjoyed.

The cover by Kylie Minogue is a bit special for me...
A few Christmases ago my place of work did The Xmas Factor. Colleagues formed groups to sing seasonal pop songs, and were given feedback by the panel of judges, 'Simon', 'Louis' and 'Dannii'. Yours truly happily grabbed the opportunity to appear as Dannii, including a mimed performance of Kylie's version of Santa Baby. I had a whale of a time!
