I posted this in the wrong place I will try again. My SO and I are planning a girls long weekend in Savanna GA in mid October was looking for suggestion on some things to do? Also is Savana CD friendly. This is not our first girls weekend together but first time to a larger city. Thanks Joeleen Noel
Savannah is a well known tourism destination. There are all sorts of things to do and see in Savannah. I would strongly suggest doing an internet search to narrow down what your particular interests are. My only caution is if you are going to stay out after dark, particularly if you are going to patronize the nightclubs and bars to exercise due caution and common sense as you would in any city today.
As far as being a LGBT friendly city, I never had any issues in Savannah. It is home to SCAD (Savannah School of Art and Design), so you have lots of artistic type people there, very creative and friendly. Again caution, if you are going to go crossdressed into bars and nightclubs, that is a whole different story.
Savannah is a wonderful city to visit. There’s so much to see and do. If you love sweets then River Street Sweets is a must see. It’s located on River street. As far as a great place for seafood, I highly recommend the Savannah Seafood Shack. Great food simply served. You must try their scallops, they are to die for. Best part, very reasonably priced. Of course there’s Paula Deen’s restaurants to try. And do remember to take one of the ghost tours. You can do either a walking tour, or a riding tour. Both are a lot of fun. I could go on and on. If you happen to be a railroad buff, there’s plenty to see with that as well. Enjoy your visit to Georgia’s very first city!
Thanks Ragina my SO loves scallops so we will give the seafood shack a try. Thanks Joeleen
Peggy Sue, Thanks for your sound advice I am always cautious but look forward to patronizing some of the roof top restaurants! Thanks Joeleen
My wife and I love visiting Savannah. We go a couple of times a year for a two-night stay. We enjoy dining out and our favorite restaurant there is the Old Pink House. We also recently discovered another good spot, Cha Bella, which is more of a farm to table place. On our next trip we plan on doing a dinner cruise on the river boat.
We especially love to walk along River st and stop in all the shops. Some good places there to get artisanal jewelry. In the main part of town we enjoyed seeing the Prohibition Museum.
As far as how CD friendly the city is I really can't answer as I've always gone in guy mode. But my sense is that it wouldn't be a problem.
Of course, as with any big tourist area, be on the alert for petty theft like pick pockets, etc.
Thanks Jennifer we are looking forward to visiting this historic town. Thanks for your suggestions! I am sure we will spend some time on River st. And in the historic areas. Thanks Joeleen
My ex lives near Savannah. She tells me there are occasional drag shows at the Moon River Brewing Company. She also recommends you check out Club One in Savannah, where they also have drag shows.
Thanks Alison we are defiantly looking into a drag show and ghost tour! Thanks Joeleen
Hi Joeleen,
Savannah is a fun town. It is definitely a "walking" town. My 3 bits of advice... comfortably shoes, comfortably shoes, comfortably shoes. Heels for only the shortest of walks.
Luv, Cindy
Great advice Cindy looking forward to our long weekend! Joeleen
Really good advice! There are lots of uneven surfaces on those streets.
