Two days ago I was at the mall to get my broke computer fixed (side note, back up your data, take it from me) and passed a Torrid store.
I had not been in a Torrid store in a while so I walked inside.
I was greeted by the clerk and told her that I was just browsing.
As I was looking I asked the clerk for clarification on Torrid’s sizing. Without hesitation she axed, what size are you?
I told her I was a 12/14 and she said I would be a 0/1 in Torrid’s sizing, and to be comfortable and look around.  I told her that I was shopping for myself, she smiled and said, I know that.
I looked a bit and saw two items that I liked. I asked the gal if it was possible to try on the clothing. She said absolutely. I told her I was new at this and she said, we all are and I’m still trying to figure it out. Then I realized- dumb me- that she may have been trans, but presented very well.
She walked me to the changing room and told me to ask if I needed anything.  I was very impressed.
Sadly when I tried the clothes the neckline was too low for my liking, but I did discover that I am a Torrid size 1!
When I left the store the gal gave me her name, and said to call or come back anytime that I am always welcome.
She was so sweet and kind, I will be back.
I plan on writing a letter to Torrid corporate complementing this wonderful gal.
Take care all, have fun.  Staci

@sf I’ve only had one experience shopping with Torrid and it was Horrid. I found a few pair of boots online that were going cheap so I added a few other pair of wedgies and packed an order. Their system couldn’t process any of my payment systems including PayPal because I live in Canada. That’s when the trouble started. I had to phone the order in. After paying $40 US  for shipping, which almost made the boots not worth buying I waited almost 3 weeks. When it arrived they had totally buggered up my order, sending me two pair of the same boots. Not only that but the tops of the boots were so wide I could get both if my legs into the top of one if them. The other pair I ordered weren’t delivered. I called several times trying to get what I wanted. Because the boots were discontinued they were not returnable. They only offered me a temporary credit to buy the original boots I ordered which didn’t cover the shipping. The customer support staff were nice but they couldn’t change policies that wouldn’t allow me to get what I had originally ordered. I have never had anywhere as much trouble and met with as much unfairness ordering online. I will never darken Torrid’s web portal again!

I've had nothing but great experiences shopping at the Torrid near me. My first trip there was actually the second time I went shopping presenting femme, ever. The staff was great and I've spent a lot of money there since then, LOL.

I have browsed at Torrid a few times, but their sizing is too big for me, but I have always felt welcome. That said, I have shopped en femme or en homme in many stores and tried on my things and never had an issue. In fact, as noted here many times, SAs seem to go out of their way to help.

Hi Staci,

I’ve only had terrific experiences shopping at Torrid.  Some items are offered only on their web site and you can have them shipped to a store location.  Should the purchase not be what you expected you can return it at the store.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences at my local Torrid store as well. Most of the sales associates are really friendly and helpful, and totally accepting of me. More often than not, I’m there in drab mode, but it’s clearly no secret to anyone that I’m shopping for myself. I wish their clothes were a little less expensive, but I have gotten some great deals on clearance stuff. And it’s the only place I can find feminine footwear that fits me.

Staci -

Thank you for your post. It sounds like a wonderful experience you had.

I just found a local Torrid store and plan on going there in the near future and your experience has helped boost my courage to go. I'll be sure to post about my experience.

XOXO
Suzanne

Torrid has a pretty solid reputation wherever they are.

We have several stores here in the greater Atlanta metro area, and all treat CDs very well.

Torrid is my main source for shoes, because they sell true wide-width shoes.  If you have wide feet, Torrid is the place to find shoes that will fit you.

The stores are a convenient place to return on-line orders and get instant credit for your return.

@finallyfiona I can just picture the shop opening and having a sudden rush of large shoes being bought by tall ladies on day 1.
