Today I went shopping in the local drug store for make-up. Despite the many cis-ladies surrounding me, I mustered the courage to select my bronzer, rouge, eye-liner, mascara and lipstick. When suddenly, while carrying a full shopping basket, I heared "Hi there neighbour!"... it was the lady that used to live next door until last month. Never... really NEVER have I've encountered anybody I know while shopping in that drug store, but now that I'm finally 'out', she turned up!!! As if this wasn't difficult enough, I went to the cash registers and selected the 'self service' register, waiting in line for it. And naturally, the line with the 'human cash register' fell dry... "You can come here sir... " and when I reluctantly put down my basket, containing make-up, panty hose, a DRESS and coloured moisterizer... she said: "Did you find everything you were looking for?"... she grinned - the little bitch! - "oh yes, I did," I mumbled and paid as fast as I could.
Still... I now have a very nice dress which fits perfectly (I just showed it to my husband!) and a load of makeup that I'll be trying out tomorrow 😉
Grin right back at her.
It'll be hard at first. But after a while, you'll realize you can embarrass her more than she did you.
And it's possible she might be teasing you in a good way and you'll make a friend. Best case scenario of course.
A few months ago, I was walking through a large charity shop up the road from me. I was in drab, but was carrying skirts, a dress and a couple of blouses. I heard my name called and it was someone I work with. We chatted for a while, and neither of us mentioned what I was carrying, though it was obvious. A few months later, I came out as a crossdresser to all, including work. When I was making a cup of tea in the staff room, the girl I saw in the shop said "I did wonder, but didn't want to ask"
Bumping into people you know isn't all bad 🙂

Oh I agree 100%, Envy.
Frederique, you are already out to the public, hon. You just haven't dressed the part. You are out there doing the same thing all the other women are doing...buying makeup, clothes, hosiery.....but don't forget some really nice shoes to finish it off!
Then put it all on, and head back to the same store, buy a nice nail polish, head to the same cashier and give her a great big smile and say....."I did forget something!"
