Isabel is spending most of day adding (and then removing 🙄 things) from her Amazon basket …

On the list definitely:

New bra(s) (apparently need 34DD)
New panties (why not, a girl must deserve some)
New skirt (probably short as my legs you tell me are ok)
New lipstick (colours colours too many colours)
New tights (maybe stockings)
New yoga / gym pants (my current preferred (safe) choice for out the house time)

On the maybe list:

New wig (mine is getting tired)
New heels (this is where it gets problematic quick)
*Everything I forgot to list but need to justify

Please send me positive and where appropriate restraining thoughts!

Might update this ‘blog’ as I make (or not) progress if you girls are interested and want to follow along?

ps - what have I forgot?

Isabel x

Hi, Isabel, my approach is not, 1: can I justify it, but 2: do I have the money for it. If the answer to 2 is yes, the answer to 1 is irrelevant 😊

Have fun!

@isabelcross

In my case, my wife knows nothing of Lucy, and my clothes are in the loft in Plastic boxes.
Therefore, I have to add the “have I got room for it” criteria to the list.

I have to say though, I have become somewhat optimistic about how much I can cram into a box.

I also started with 2 boxes and that’s now risen to 6 !!

Lucy, my wife knows and is supportive but she does ask, "What have you been buying now and where is it going?" when another parcel arrives. I'm going to need another, or bigger, wardrobe, lingerie drawer, jewellery box, makeup bag, shoe storage....oh, maybe she's right 🙄

@isabelcross Yes I tend to do that. It does sometimes result in a “bugger, I can’t get the top back on that box” comment

@isabelcross There's a sale on with my favourite tights, so I bought quite a few pairs. Not that I needed more, but they were half price.

Useful, boring and easy to forget is I've also just bought a tub of brush cleaner.

Clothing-wise I'd suggest to buy things that will work in various combinations. Whilst I have quite a lot of dresses, I can style them with different accessories, tights and slips / petticoats. You can also mix and match with tops and skirts.

Offline, it is always worth finding an independent boutique - they are generally very CD-friendly, either that or TK Maxx is a good place to look.

@annaredhead Thanks Anna, I have browsed and even used the changing rooms at TK Maxx (not fully en femme at the time though) xx

The most important thing to be on the list - 'What's my credit limit?'

I cut up my credit card 30 years ago, now I can only spend what I've got. Of course there's always amazon's 5 month interest free, PayPal pay in three etc. etc. Quite a few ways now for us to say, "But it's only....a month" 😊

My only advise is to lose the online shopping cart and head for the stores. Shopping in person is so much fun, and you get to try things on to find the best fit and look.

@jjandme Shopping locally also helps our communities.

I try to limit on-line shopping to things that either aren't readily available here or are outrageously expensive in stores.

It seems to take forever to order stuff online these days, unless you already know exactly what you want.  My current focus is on a simple maintenance solution for my male hair under my wig, and on improving my nails.  I've just ordered some proper hair clippers to take me down to practically bald (I'm a harsh mistress!), a couple of professional wig caps to go over the top, and some cuticle removal tools.  Most of the time I spent was homework on the clippers, reading the reviews to make sure I was buying something that was actually up to the job I intend it for long term, and learning how get the best out of them.  I did change the name on my Amazon account though, so I'm greeted as Fiona and all future packages will be addressed to me when they turn up 🙂

That's a great idea, Fiona. I've set up an email for Allie but eyebrows (perfectly shaped, of course) would be raised if parcels begin to arrive for her 😊

@alexina The account name change and address change were two different operations.  You could still have Amazon recognise you as Allie but send things under your male name 🙂

Shave it all off Fiona. It's less messing about, no styling to do, no trimming, no wig caps required. I've shaved my head for decades, can't imagine having my own hair now.

Ok, it's not for everyone, but I've never regretted it -- and of course, if I had, it would always have grown back.

@rebeccabaxter That's what I'm planning 🙂  I'm still going with the wig caps though, they're for grip and to stop my scalp getting irritated by direct contact with the wig.  It'll be weird having no hair for the first time ever!  Add in the pierced ears and the eyebrows I'm having done in 10 days time, and that's the full transformation (for now? 🙂 ).  Various bits of hair will then be lasered off, including all the dark from my beard, but none of it would be visible en femme anyway.

@finallyfiona In truth, I haven't found any irritation on my bare scalp from wigs, even after hours of wearing them. I suppose it is a little different with your good self as you probably wear one every day, whereas I do not.

@isabelcross Go for it, going out is so much fun. You will be nervous when you first head out, but it turns to elation very quickly.

My tip would be to buy clothes that you can combine. That will create more outfits. Or don't order again until you have completed the old order, the items fit and you have already worn them.

Hope you enjoy your new items. It’s so exciting to add to your collection. I had a new dress come in today and was absolutely thrilled. It fit perfectly and looks great. Storage is getting to be a challenge…
