Hello ladies,
I was sitting here thinking about mini skirts and other shorter skirt types and I had an epiphany. Why don't older GGs wear shorter skirts? I have one answer in my head I just cannot let go of. Is it because they don't like their legs, maybe varicose veins, cellulite? Do you have opinions as to why they don't or is there an unwritten rule among GGs prohibiting shorter skirts on women over 40. Well TTFN

Hi Danielle! Well.......you don't see mini skirts on any girls as much any more. It was a fashion trend at the time until it comes back. You develop a certain look and mannerisms as you age and wearing short skirts isn't one of them. That generally gets you tagged as a "working girl" After marriage...husbands don't want you advertising either and once the kids appear....well jogging pants and the same t-shirt.
Hopes this helps. This is one reason I advise.....when going out....do as the Romans do, so you don't look obvious.

When you're passing you don't want to stand out in a crowd but to blend in. Wearing short skirts (especially for us older girls) in a crowd will cause you to stand out and get a lot of attention.
Still like my mini's

I love mini skirts and usually have one on everyday when I come home, I have been out in one several times, in the dark obviously! as in my head I feel like daisy duke. However as you say I think older girls lose the confidence or desire to risk showing it all off!
Hi all, I'm older, I'm 61. I love to wear short sskirts, I think I've got the figure and legs to ccarry it off. I think we should wear what we want to wear and not be constrained by what others should think we should wear simply because of age. Love to hear what everyone else thinks. Helen Elizabeth.

Hi Dame Veronica,
Thank you, that is what makes the most sense. It isn’t always right but many things in this world are rarely right. Of course somewhere and by someone the mold must be broken. I can only hope that one in the CD & LGBTQ community can eventually break the mold and change perceptions. A woman has the right to wear what she would like within reason and the male ego needs to change. I can only hope that the day when these things change I will live to see the changes. TTFN💋👠

Hi Helen,
I totally agree. If you’ve got it flaunt it has been my philosophy for as long as I can remember. Of course I would too if I had the figure and I do have the legs for it😁. I am 58 so I guess I would fall into the older girl category but I sure don’t feel it. My true idea of a shorter skirt is mid way between knee and hip. Averaging about 4” above the knee to 2” above the knee. I have always been one who pushes the boundaries of what is normal and I will continue to do so. We are adventurous, daring, intelligent, beautiful women and we should be able to show we are without reservations or judgments. But I digress my soap box needs to be put away for the night. TTFN💋👠

Hi Edie,
i do understand and no I have not been outside dressed, yet. I will dress accordingly but I will hate the game we have to play. I love shorter skirts and heels and feel I should be able to wear them when I feel like it and if I can be comfortable wearing them. Glass houses and rocks! I promise not to throw too many.TTFN💋👠

Hello Danielle,
Once you’re older and married there’s no real need to be provocative if you’re happy with what you have. If you’re not happy with what you have, watch out!
I get the sense that it’s more of a modesty thing although I’m sure notions of cellulite and varicose veins may come into play for some.
Besides, who needs a mini skirt when you have daisy duke shorts? Lol
Hello Ghost of Sam,
short shorts fit the bill too and I didn’t even think about them! Huh.....food for thought. TTFN💋👠

At this point in my life I'm an older CD. Still I love short dresses and skirts. They make me feel younger and I get to show off my legs in nice pantyhose and heels. Maybe with GG's it's a case of been there, done that. I really don't need the attention.
I'm 66, I have not ventured out past my back yard. But I love and wear mini skirts, mini dresses and super short shorts. I also love platform shoes with super thin high heels. But if I would ever dare to go out shopping I would dress conservatively so as not to draw attention to myself.

Hi Patty,
Hmmmm.....the been there done that answer is a very good one. I do suspect the answer may be a combination of many things or even one thing to each. Fortunately the love of my life, my wife, loves skorts. These are short look like skirts and show a good amount of leg. I am beginning to think this may be a good compromise to this quandary. TTFN

Hi Jamie,
Love your answer! I just love my stiletto heels and short skirts with hose. I know if I were to dress the way I feel inside I would wear a mini skirt, pantyhose of nude or tan color, heels with a 4" stiletto heel, and a low cut blouse with of course the necessary accouterments so as to look as passable as possible. Not slutty per se but like a late teen early twenty something. I believe I have the legs to pull off the skirt and heels. However I do know I do not want to draw unnecessary attention to myself. TTFN

I think after a certain age people make judgements that if you are exposing too much leg you are trying too hard to attract attention with various negative connotations, whether it's a mini-skirt or short shorts. I'm sure that "been there done that", cellulite and varicosed veins, not to mention other blemishes, it all contributes to it. But with more "older singles" nowadays I think attitudes are a little more forgiving nowadays, but even then probably only in certain situations, e.g. exercising, outdoor, hot day, working in the yard etc. where it's more acceptable. But comparing with GGs, the main difference I would say is not having been there done that when younger.
