Do any of you Girls still wear SLIPS?

Even though skirts and dresses are lined now, making slips not a necessity, do you still enjoy the cool feeling of a lacy slip dancing about under your Skirt?

During my younger years CDing, I loved slips.  Like you said, the cool feeling + the soft silky feel was heavenly.

While I have a few slips now, I barey wear them.  Even with dress/skirts that have no lining, I opt for no slips.  Not sure why, maybe laziness more than anything else.

This was talked about a while back.

There was a demise in slip wearing through the eighties and on. When I was young it was one of the first things I wore. My mother would say that you should wear a slip under a skirt or dress - that comment was aimed at my sisters but I was in hearing range. They were available everywhere, made to make you feel feminine with soft material and plenty of lace. One of the first things my mother gave me when I told her about myself  was a dress and slip! Over the years I accumulated a collection of vintage slips.

I still wear them today. In every day wear I will have a chemise style full slip but on special occasions I will wear one of my vintage ones. I have a collection of half slips for my skirts.

I wonder if it is an age related item or do young girls still wear them?

Love a full or half slip with lace trim, don't feel dressed without. Love their silky feel over nyloned legs and under a skirt and blouse, or under a dress. The hint of a lace bodice through a blouse, or with an undone top button. Then there's the delight of finding quality ones, M&S or Charnos, in a charity shop. And vintage ones.

Some of my dresses and skirts are lined and some are not.  All of my long summer maxi-dresses are not lined.

My wardrobe includes half-slips, full-slips, crinolines, and petticoats.

I always wear a half-slip under my long maxi-dresses but only sometimes under other dresses.

As already mentioned, in the 1950s, I can remember girls and women would never think of stepping out of their home unless they were wearing a slip, along with a girdle, stockings, bra, etc.

A waist slip was the 2nd female garment I fell in love with, as far as I remember... although could have been summer dresses, little pleated skirts... anyhoo, I remember the slip as vividly as the pink skirted swimsuit I fell head over heels for aged 4.

So there were probably others, but the slip was special. It was within reach, and I was able to let my quite overwhelming curiosity get the better of me. Pink fog, if you must.

I wore that slip for a few minutes before getting terrified of being caught, and back it went, into the drawer, never to be forgotten.

The reality for me now is that I don't wear any of my small collection - 4, to be exact, because either I wear a lined dress with a silky lining, the lightest, zephyr-lifting summer dresses, or very short sequined numbers, which just don't need a slip.

I feel more comfortable in a cotton nightie for chilling in the evenings, so, sadly, the slips serve no purpose save a dose of nostalgia every time I rummage in my underwear drawer. I can't even call it lingerie, as my taste runs more to the practical than the sensual.

Got to preserve the feminine look when going out!

Love Laura

there is something for me that just says yes when I find a nice slip with lacy trim or that area in between, so feminine for me and gives me weakness in the knees.

I would say normally no, but I have one green dress that requires a slip because the material of the dress is so thin that a slip ( of the same shade of green) came with it.

I don't usually wear a slip, but there are times I do (either a full or half slip).

I have 2 chiffon dresses, and one chiffon skirt.  The lining is a dull polyester, which is OK but not really nice.  I prefer a slip with these.  I have a color block skirt with large seams where the color changes inside.  It's not really comfortable on my legs without a slip.  I have another skirt where the inner material is OK, but feels a lot better with a slip.  I have a summer skirt that is lined, but if I hold it up to the light, I can still see light coming through the the whole skirt (front, back, and front and back lining). A slip is definitely in order for this if I'm out in the sunlight.

I have a couple of longer skirts that I wear in the cooler weather, with pantyhose or tights (depending on the season).  I have noticed that the skirts will occasionally cling to my legs, making it hard to walk.  But put on a long slip, and the skirt slips over the slip, and the slip over the hosiery.

I have a couple slips but actually don't wear them that often. On the other hand, this season I decided to really lean into vintage 50s style tea dresses and have been wearing them with petticoats for that full skirt look which I just adore.
