Hi Ladies!  This may not apply as much to the Ladies from the south but, I was wondering if anyone else gets chilled to the bone when smooth? I am not that hairy to begin with, but when waxed it seems I get cold easier. I was waxed last week, and now the Arctic express is rolling thru with snow. And when I go outside, it seems the cold goes straight through me. Even inside I am chilled. Unless I am wearing my fleece clothing. But the desire to be smooth overrides it.  Being that I loathe the cold it could be my imagination. I wish I was on Beach right now!!    Hugs  Pru

I'm no scientist, but I would guess it's psychological to some extent.

I can't imagine that human beings have enough hair cover for warmth purposes - I thought it was mainly for allowing toxins to be removed via the skin, and to trap beads of sweat for cooling in warm weather.

Women have much less body hair than men, yet you frequently see ladies bare-legged even on the chilliest days. It's something I often contemplated at school. In my day, girls were not allowed to wear trousers for school ever.

Ties were optional for girls, but a boy would be suspended for not wearing one, and disciplined for not having it tied correctly, or wearing the knot low.

What rot society imposes on us!

Back on topic, I would think you'd only really notice the cold if you were like Chewbacca to start with - but happy to be corrected by the more scientific ladies here!

If your legs are cold, wear tights - it's what they're for - and they feel lovely on freshly shaved legs. I like the stretch vests from Primark for upper body warmth. Thin, but beautifully warm 😀

Love Laura

I think it is just the thought of the cold that makes you freeze Prudence.

Perhaps it’s more the feeling of the smooth skin and the fact that it’s just more sensitive in general that causes the feeling of being chilled? We don’t have enough hair to act as insulation, but the nerve endings are more sensitive without the hair because we can feel clothes and such directly on our skin. I don’t know. I’m not a scientist. Just a shaved southern crossdresser who also feels the cold.

Hi Emily. That did cross my mind. But it is above my pay grade. Staying smooth and ordering more fleece. Hugs

I'm another Southern girl who is very sensitive to the cold; but my legs are naturally bare, so I don't know any different.

Your absolutely correct, Pru. I started shaving in November, I think? and I could not believe how much I felt the cold. Thats why I wear a bra and stockings everyday to work now,(my story and I'm sticking to it)
But as you said, the feeling of smooth is soooo worth it,
Hugs, Regi

as an addendum, the hair on our bodies keeps the clothes from touching the skin, and once it is removed, the temp of the cloth transfers directly to our skin. Also, though many have stated we don't have enough hair to insulate, when I shaved the half head of hair I did have, there was definitely a change in what I felt
as always, my opinions only, having lived in the great white north all my life.

I am from and live in the South, and my legs are shaved smooth ALL the time. When i first starting shaving my legs and would go to the store in guy mode wearing shorts, I would FREEZE when I went in the freezer section of the store. It's been years now and it doesn't bother me as much any more. So your body just gets use to it I would say.

Also been shaving under my arms for years now. And my personal opinion is that when I do something that causes me to sweat I find that I don't stink as much under the arms being smoothed there. I've always wore underarm deodorant, but my guess is is the hair under the arms pickup the smell and hold it longer than if you don't have hair under the arms.

These are just my observations and opinions.

Darling Pru,

Our bodies were made to have a layer of hair to help with temperature regulation as even women have a lighter layer. So, yes... you will feel the cold more after de-hairing but with the help of pantyhose you have another layer.
Admittedly, I live in a more temperate country and I have been a competitive cyclist since I was a youngster (and shaved my legs) but when I lived in alpine France or Sweden I have never really felt the cold on my legs. Anyway, Aussie and Kiwi males are often seen in the coldest climes wearing shorts and jandals year round! Perhaps you should spend a moment of two out in the cold with just shorts? ;D
When playing hockey I was always sweating like the veritable pig and was glad I was shaved down!

Warm Hugs back Polly

I don't feel any more chilled when my body is shaved in the winter.  However, I do notice the cold air against my skin more.  It seems that my skin is just more sensitive when shaved.  I notice the texture of the various materials that make up my clothes more when I'm shaved too.

Hi Pru.

We have another cold snap hitting England...nothing like Krista's minus 30........I do notice it's cooler but it's more invigorating than " to the bone" for me.... sometimes here it's nice to go out in a skirt and feel the cool "airflow"...( ask Stephanie plumb!!!)

WARM huggs, grace xx

Pru, you are not alone hon.  I am generally cold from October to March, I'll admit to being a winter wussy - just because I'm Canadian doesn't mean I like cold!  I despise cold weather with each numb toe and every fibre of my shivering body.  You feel that wind running up your leg the mornings you forget the leggings! And that cold red nose may look cute, but it isn't!! Even in my pre smooth days I was cold, and a lack of hair makes it worse - but it's still worth it.  There is a bit of compensation in that the hair on my head is longer than ever.  At least my ears and neck stay a bit warmer! 😁
