I had a good friend (genetic girl) tell me to buy Spanx. I am in love with these. I plan on shopping there a lot. The company was easy to deal with and there was an inspirational saying printed on the inside of the box. Best of all they make me feel amazing.

I believe Spanx are better in many ways over a retro girdle, mainly comfort. However Spanx lack, IMHO, the sexiness of a vintage style girdle like a Rago girdle-love my satin panels, lace leg detail, hooks and zippers! I also love the overall hug/compression feel that only a firm girdle provides.
Having said all that, I will purchase a spanx girdle, you never know until you try-Selma Hayek looked sexy wearing her spanx in 'Drunk Parents' (in the movie, she claimed to double spanxs).
I love spanx as well. I have shape wear jeans and bras made of it and feels divine
