Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
how long does it typically take you to

a) get dressed en femme?

b) apply makeup ?

Rachael needs about 20 mins to dress with a lot of that time adjusting pads and shapewear. Plus another 20-30mins for make up and press on nails.

hugs,

Rachael

@clt oh, Rachael, you are my hero, I could never dress that fast.  I know it’s hard to believe, but I actually need at least 2 hours.  What you can do is truly impressive.

@jennconn ....likewise!

Jennifer, just before my 'make up' comes off, I stand in front of my mirror and take a DEEP BREATH.  Next, I look into my eyes while attempting to search deep into my soul.  Somehow, I ALWAYS find myself HAPPILY saying, "I LOVE BEING A GIRL".

Love Ya,

@jennconn Yes, Jennifer,

I believe our DOLL UP FACE is MADE UP at the same PACE.

I wish I was YOUNGER. It's probably the reason why I take LONGER.

So allow me to cry on your SHOULDER.

Sincerely and With Love,

Thea the OLDER

@clt Well I have yet to do my makeup up, not allowed to use my wife's, way expensive just to practice with, and woney is tight.

However, it takes me about 15 minutes to dress, that does not include shoes, that's still a very early work in progress lol

@closetcelt 15 mins is really impressive. Just curious about shoes though. For me, the shoes only take seconds to put on. Or are you including decision making time?

@closetcelt Hi Aine (sorry, can't do the fada). You can get cheap make up bundles on Shein or EBay that might be good enough to practise with. Just to check out different shades or styles and application techniques. I'm a newbie to make up and this is the route I am taking. When I  make a mistake, I  can just wipe it off and the only real expense to me is my time. The analogy I use is that you didn't learn to drive in a Rolls Royce

@clt I never have gone out completely en femme, unless you include being dame in the village pantomime. I have no real desire to. I am comfortable with my unisex self with occasional femme leanings. But, if I did ever go to a convention, and some gently made it all possible, I would be persuaded to submit, just to see what might be possible. 💚

Hi, Rachael, it can take me anything from 10 - 30 minutes to get dressed, depending on how quickly I can choose what to wear, including jewellery. Makeup is more consistent, usually about 20 minutes or less.

Edit. I forgot about my hair, currently takes me around 20 minutes to style it.

@clt With what I am wearing today.....

a) 2 minutes probably.

b) I have no makeup, so minutes = zero.

As an explanation, I am only wearing bikini panties, bra and forms, leggings and a tank top. I imagine the time taken to put one of my dresses on, a wig, and jewellery would increase the time to dress by maybe five minutes.

@clt I can get dressed to go out on a daily basis in about 20 minutes.  This includes dressing to blend with simple makeup, something like leggings and a sweater and my press on nails.   When I'm going out dressed more formally, 45 minutes is the norm.   Most of the difference is taking more pains with my hair and makeup.

@clt Depends where I'm going and what I'm wearing.

If it's just going shopping with my wife I need about 15 minutes to get dressed and another 15 for makeup. If we're going somewhere special then I'll take my time and dressing might go 30 minutes and the same for my makeup to be just so.

@clt Yes I am full-time.  I have my eyebrows waxed and tinted to give them some presence, but they still hide behind the frame of my glasses, so it's not worth doing anything more with them on a daily basis.  That's really the way I like it - fairly minimal make-up: just concealer around the mouth, chin and under the eyes, a bit of blusher, mascara on the upper lashes only, and lipstick.  If I'm out to a more special event I'll do full foundation, contouring and some basic eyeshadow (shimmery if it's an evening out).

I have got my dressing and make up down to under 30 minutes now as being a regular dresser it is second nature. I do my own nails so they are ready to go. Occasionally there is a special occasion where the choice of clothes needs thinking about and the makeup may be a little more detailed then I will take all the time needed.

Happy Valentine's Day to you, too, Rachael!

For a trip out en femme, I would say that my timings are very similar to yours; 20 minutes to dress and around 25 minutes for make up and nails.

Bearing in mind that I only go out en femme, on average, once a month, I'm rather proud of the 25 minutes make up time! 😊

When dressing on a 'working from home alone' day, I can be dressed in under 10 minutes, and it probably shows in my appearance! I don't bother with make up on these type of days.

I haven't factored in the time it takes to get my chosen femme items and make up from my storage locker, which is about a 5 minute walk away, so you can add the additional time if you wish!

Judy. X.

I'm impressed with how fast you ladies can get ready.  I guess I'm not just old but slow.  For me to get everything out I need, get dressed, apply makeup and wig, take some photos and get it all off, makeup removed and everything put away is a minimum of 2.5 hours and that's a rushed job that isn't a lot of fun.  To really enjoy the experience I need at least 4 hours.  That is a block of time that unfortunately for me, I don't often get.

Dear Michelle,

As I noted, DISCOUNTING THE SHOWER and SHAVE.....I usually get MY BASE on as the facial moisturizer starts working. Now, add the time it takes me to don the necklace, ear rings, bracelets, WIG, and last of all, the lipstick, hairpiece, and perfume-YUP, looking at 2 to 2 1/2 HOURS EASILY.

Dear Girls,

Not ME!

Discounting the shower and shave, I'm hovering at or about 75-90 minutes. 30 minutes simply to complete the eye-eye shadow aspect, another 30-45 minutes for the foundation/concealing, eyebrows, contouring, highlighting and blushing. If  THE WIND is BLOWING in my favor, the false lashes could take anywhere near 10-20 minutes.

If 'the canvas' was a bit more youthful I believe I could do it in 60 minutes. My personal critique?...I may be 'blending' the eye shadow TOO LONG, BEAUTY BLENDING the foundation TOO LONG, and unnecessarily 'BAKING MY MAKE UP'.....but this I accomplish while doing my eyebrows.

My New Year's Resolution was to SEEK a MAKE OVER CRITIQUE. I have yet to do. Maybe the money spent on a bona fide professional assessment will get me away from my vanity and into my car sooner. LOL.

But from what I've read, YOU GIRLS kick some serious butt!

I hope the more one does the more efficient one becomes...

Sincerely,

Thea

@melodeescarlet

I think, I KNOW, YOU HIT IT to the MINUTE.

Melodee, I have 'stop watched' my technique and  employed SPC....a business acronym for statistical process control. LOL! If there is a faster, MORE EFFICIENT WAY, I've yet to discover it . Sure, after having my hair cut, I'd love to say, HEY OK now let's do some quasi "PERMANENT MAKEUP" (ie eyebrows, false lashes, etc). Something that will last for several OUTINGS but that is not my reality.

Melodee, depending on my routine (weekly) schedule, ie. seeing my children or attending to other life (my "more macho' persona), I can vary among, press-on nails, glue-on (if I desire a longer 'coffin' look and estimate that I could wear them daily for up to 4 days) to painting my own nails.

Seriously, I need to prepare well ahead of time, have my products and tools ready for the operation, and hope that the WIND IS AT MY BACK in order to meet a DOLL UP TIME of 2 1/2 or less.

I'm glad to see that YOU are at or near MY PAR TIME.

Always sincere and with LOVE,

Thea

From the moment I apply make up to the finishing touches like getting dressed/applying make up, 1.5 hours if I speed demon it thru, but average 2 hours.

Getting undressed isn't bad, 20 min.  That includes make up removal.

@annaredhead so true about what to wear. I’m definitely aging myself here with the next comment but it used to take us 3.5 hrs to watch a movie on a Friday night. 2 hrs of that time was driving to/from the video store and trying to decide what to watch. LOL

If I'm going out somewhere nice or out with the girls, I'll usually need 90 minutes to get done and out. The occasional makeup disaster or inevitable run in my pantyhose will certainly add to that.

If I'm just doing day to day stuff it takes just about 20 minutes unless something needs to be ironed. Often, I go out with just lipstick or maybe lipstick and eyeliner. Fortunately, I don't have to do full makeup to be out in public which makes life much easier.

5 minutes for emergency ventures (think "we are going dancing and will pick you up in 5 if you want to come along".  My makeup is in my purse and I'll put it on in the car or at the venue if necessary.  I keep 3 of what I call my kamikaze dresses at home ready for an instant of fun.  They are stretchy, glamorous, don't wrinkle, and always fit.  I can grab one off the hanger and put it on while walking down the hall.  They are perfect for instant attire.).  I will use 2 hours for a regular going out glam night if I have the time and take 30 minutes to get ready for bed after I get home.  Party on!  Marg

You ask are very fast compared to me. If I'm going out the house in public. I keep my body shaved every other day so I to touch up shaving the night before anything missed gets the electric razor. I shave my face just before I get dressed with takes just a few minutes.

I like glue on wigs so that's almost an hour to get that done to my satisfaction.

I moisturize before makeup then primer that's several minutes. Then my makeup could take up to an hour because I'm meticulous and do a lot of contouring.

To keep this short in order to be really happy with my look it's almost 3 hours before I'm out the door. So I start getting ready as early as possible. Since my SO is supportive I can start getting ready while she's still having her coffee then she comes in and gets ready for work and leaves before I'm done. Usually pointing out mistakes in my makeup. Lol

I only dress at home so don't need to be as meticulous as I would be if I were to go out. With that being said I dress every morning while my wife is still sleeping and change to drab before she gets up. That is usually a period of about 3-4 hours, not enough for me to worry about make up and wigs. On average it takes me about 15-20 minutes to get dressed. I wear earrings 24/7 but do change to something more femme when I dress but that only takes a minute or two, necklaces are either slip on or clasps with magnetic closures (for those that haven't tried them they are wonderful, easy on/off - my therapist told me about them). Most of my clothes are slip ons so I don't have to be concerned with zippers or buttons. If they are sips or buttons add another few minutes. I don't always wear tights or pantyhose, when I do that is another couple minutes. I also wear lipstick but that is mere seconds to apply.  About once a month my wife will invite Suzanne to spend the day and that involves make up and wig. Those days can take up to an hour. My wife helps me with my make up on those days as I do an okay job but she puts on finishing touches.

XOXO

Dressing casually will take me about 30 minutes. That’s usually dressing to blend in and not planning to meet anyone.  This is when I’m going for a drive or shopping and just need to get out and feel like a girl.
When dressing to the nines, 1 - 1/2 hours. This is when I’m dressing up with my wife for a girls night, going out to a club, or meeting a friend and wanting to look and feel sexy and beautiful! 🥰
