Hi Ladies,
I feel sure that most of us in our CD life have been confronted with splits on the edges of our silicon forms. From back when I had a "few spare shekels" I bought a pair of Amoena Contacts. ie self adhesives. They aint cheap!!
In thees latter days of lesser "funds", I was concerned that as I wear them in a bra in bed every night and they tend to "merge" whilst I'm sleeping,. Meant the ends would meet and curve upwards.
Eventually this may have led to splitting.I cant afford another pair!.
So I used the waterproof adhesive tape commonly used for securing bandages or sports tape.
No more risk of splitting!!
Hope this helps someone
Caty.
It does happen occasionally Caty and that tape was my go to as well.
My wife, sort of playfully, grabbed and squished hard a pair of cheap forms. One of them immediately split. She laughed, I didn't. 😬
Because it was the only close to appropriate tape that I had at hand, I used the ubiquitous duct tape to keep the split from getting worse. Nothing shows through good bra.
I've had some silicon forms start to leak out, and I've put them aside and not worn them again. I had thoughts of using the home heated plastic sealers for food to reseal the edges, but I don't have one and I'm not planning to get one just for my forms.
Instead I went with Pals forms, which aren't silicon but are a gel form. They aren't in a plastic container so there is nothing to split, they can be cut and cured with baby powder, and are sleep safe. You can't use the same glue as you can with silicon forms, and the one time I tried the glue they gave (read: sold) me for the forms, it didn't work despite being held in place for hours before I attempted to let them free. (The glue looked a lot like white craft glue.) I have not tried again as it just wasn't worth it.
Because I went a size down when I bought the Pals forms, I probably won't try to repair the silicon forms.
Thanks Caty for the hint.
