My wife is aware to a degree of my situation, but for the most part we’re very don’t ask don’t tell.
Her and the kids are about to go and visit my in-laws across the country for a full week. I wasn’t able to get off work so I’m staying behind. I already have a few ideas but I want to take full advantage of the situation of being home alone. Any suggestions of things to do/try? I don’t get much opportunity to crossdress other than wearing a pair of leggings under loose pants if its a colder day.
Also, any creative ideas on how to get some clothes without risking getting seen in a store?
I’m not sure when I’ll get another opportunity like this!
Hi Bella,
I see you’re in N. Carolina. Not sure what your budget permits so assuming you don’t want credit card bills for your wife to see let me suggest visiting a resale shop to look for a few items to wear while your family is away. Walmart is a good inexpensive stop for some bras and underwear and pantyhose. Check their cosmetics department for nail polish and remover. Since you don’t want anything found inexpensive items hurt less to dispose of. Don’t worry about what you might wear. Blend in casual. Most shoppers are absorbed in their own affairs so put a smile on.
You might find a cute nightie to wear too. Bring your tape measure to get your measurements and measurements on the items that catch your eye.
Or check the local drugstore like Walgreens or CVS. Both have a beauty section and may have a trained consultant to help answer questions or suggest basic items for you. The consultants are CD friendly so ask for their help. They have monthly quotas to meet so will love helping you. Our local Walgreens consultant does makeovers so shave close before visiting. Take the store survey at the website at the bottom of your receipt and compliment her on the assistance you received. With your phone you might get a selfie with her.
Most of all have fun letting the girl out.

I have a similar situation. My wife knows, but we do not talk about it and she does not support it, and for a while I did not get too many opportunities to get dressed up either. Keeping a small wardrobe close at hand, yet still hidden has given me more opportunities to get dressed up.
My suggesting is, if your ordering things online, order it before they leave and try to time it out so it arrives just after they leave. The last thing you want is to order several items and have them arrive right around the time your family is getting back.
Another thought is, some stores like Macys and Victoria's Secret have an in store pick up option. At least with Macys, you can filter on items available for store pick up. I have never tried it with Victoria's Secret. Then all you have to do it pick your items up at the customer service counter (they even have a curbside pick up option where I think they will bring it out to your car, but I haven't tried that either). It is pretty quick and painless.
Enjoy your time alone.
Hi Bella, try any of the discount places : Marshall's, Ross, TJ Maxx , Kohls, or even Target. If you're worried about being seen do a quick recon for anyone you know. Or drive a few miles away. The fun of shopping is as much as dressing. At first it's a total adrenaline rush. But no store employee really cares what you're buying. And you can return the stuff instead of purging. Except for the thigh highs with runs in them. Enjoy your week of bliss.

Oh dear Bella, I really do have empathy and compassion for you. I was in the same position as you for so many years and I certainly know of your situation.
There are so many hiding spots from the back shed to the roof cavity just to name a few. Sorry I don’t know your residence. You may need to have your mail delivery at your local post office if that is possible in your location, if you don’t want to be seen in a store or parcels arriving at your home when your family is around to avoid any unnecessary explaining.
E-commerce companies such as Shein, Temu, Amazon, ebay etc are generally quite good with their postage times.
When starting out with the makeup at first keep it tame and not too loud or glamorous. Sticky breast bras are good for creating cleavage together with an A or B cup bra with a small amount of padding will not be generally be seen in public under the right autumn or winter clothing. Compression garments corsetry stockings also fit into this underdress category. Around the house of course add your slips and dresses etc.
I hope these few suggestions help a little
My wife knows and is not a fan, so yeah, know how you feel. On the upside, nobody will really notice in shops, be they thrift(cheaper), or normal. People assume you're buying for someone else, you don't need to convince them. Obviously don't buy everything in the same shop. And the advice from someone above to do a brief recce makes sense.
Hi Bella, As already mentioned, I'd highly agree with those who suggested shopping at a thrift shop. It can be done without any concerns, I expect, because the likelihood of meeting people you know is probably slight. Plus, I'd suggest going basic, especially a nightie so you could enjoy sleeping in it. A lovely feeling! Also, it is not a big collection of things that you might have to hide away in preparation for their return. Often it is the little things that can provide a big, pleasurable experience. Above all, enjoy the possibilities with only a bit of concern for what happens next !!!
Everyone gives good advice. The paper trail of credit cards i eliminated by using cash. Just walked to JC penny and picked out a set of undies blouse, and skirt in my size. Likewise makeup at Walmart. One thing I would caution, when not wearing, keep everything in one place. I made the mistake of leaving my bra on the back of the bathroom door. If you perfume, launder bedclothes and towels. If you use. The wife’s things, photograph so it goes back as it was. Good idea to keep the curtains closed. Last make sure relatives are not checking up on you. Have a wionderful week, some of my best times 🤗😃
I have been shopping by myself for outfits, and have had a few looks. I just say that I shop for my wife because she works a lot and doesn’t have much time to. I know what styles she likes and try to surprise her with outfits when she gets home.
Usual response is, “That’s so sweet”
Hi Bella, I'm with the ladies that suggested thrift store shopping. Your $ will go further as you're learning. Go to another city, use cash, get a pile of dresses, tops and whatever you like. If someone asks just tell them you're getting ready for a big costume party, cosplay or Halloween. Then go home toss it all on the bed and start try-ons at the mirror. That's day one. On day two go back to the store and now zero in on stuff that you thought looked good and fit. Get a good bra, a pair of shoes, dark pantyhose or tights, one good elastic waist skirt and a top and jacket to go with it. You are trying to find your size and style so later when you have a chance to get out you've got everything that matches and fits so you can just whip it on and go out the door. You can play with makeup as you see fit. That's smaller and easier to buy but it also takes more time to put on and take off when you're learning. Concentrate on what is most important to you. I'd donate everything that didn't work since most thrift stores don't do returns. Besides, you don't have a lot of time and it was cheap to begin with so you can do the donation as part of your cost of learning. Time is limited so use it wisely. Safe Journey, Marg
.Hi Bella. Wow!! What an opportunity!! So, maybe order online and pick up in store? Or, have it delivered overnight? Oh my gosh, dress up and do the chores, BUT keep guy clothes by the door. Once, I was having so much fun being girly doing stuff, I stepped outside at night to take out the trash in my girl clothes ( !!!) . So now, I keep guy clothes by the door to remind me to change . Oh, lucky for me it was really late at night, so I lingered outside. It was a wonderful feeling !!! Oh, hey, go for a drive! Get some larger men clothes to cover your girly outfit, then when you are ....out of the neighborhood, slip it off and be a girl!!! If you have a big dog, take him/her for a ride. I'm a short girl, once a guy came over to my car ......Dog Astro shows all his teeth, guy pivots and walks away!! Hope this helps. kymmie
Thank you all for the suggestions! I was able to get some clothes online as well as some in store. A trick I figured out was that Amazon actually has drop off locations in my city so nothing came to the house and notified our doorbell camera. Just walked up to the locker, scanned a code, and a door swung open with my packages. I’ve posted some pictures if you’d like to see ☺️
Trying to work up the courage to go for a night drive sometime this weekend!
Just go out of town for your shopping. Shopping en femme is great fun and definetly a bucket list for dressers. I would also suggest getting a makeover at Sephora, Ultra, MAC or similar place. It to is great fun. For the ultimate thrill, combine it all and then go to a movie, play or concert. I love to dress casually en femme, spend a bit of time shopping, then getting a makeover prior to putting on a nice dress for dinner and a play.
