Hello Girls,
Today I had a rather different experience in that I went to a restaurant in the city. It is only on rare occasions that I go to the city at all, but I felt like having a change. It is one of the Earls Restaurants and, before I retired, I used to frequent the place quite often. This was in guy mode, of course.
To add to the intrigue, yesterday I had to go into town for an appointment with a dermatologist. I have seen him several times before. Well, as I could not reasonably wear make-up, I decided to just go in guy mode. I had thought of alternatives, like going to the appointment dressed feminine and then putting make-up on in the car. By then though, it would be time to head home.
So then, I went in guy mode. However, I was still addressed as Aurora as I had told them that that is my preferred name.
After the appointment, I decided to go to the aforementioned Earls Restaurant for coffee before heading for home. At the desk, the hostess asked me my phone number and name which is on a voluntary basis. On this occasion I gave my name as Lynnette with my actual family name. I decided on Lynnette as, since choosing it for a middle name I have come to really like how feminine that name sounds.
The hostess didn't even blink an eye, even though I was in guy mode. She just entered my particulars into their system and then took me over to a booth.
When the waitress came to my table she introduced herself. I smiled, said, "Pleased to meet you" and then said, "My name is Lynnette."
Well, she did to a bit of a double take but then replied that she was also pleased to meet me and what could she get me?
After that, the coffee (excellent as always) and service were all that is to be expected from the staff of Earls Restaurants.
Before I came out I asked her if there was a Winners store close by. She said that yes, there is and gave me directions.
So then, I decided to go again today for brunch as they have a twelve dollar special until noon.
This time, I wore one of my skirt outfits and long winter coat. The hostess greeted me, asked if they had my phone number, which I repeated for her. She looked at her computer screen and said, "Lynnette?"
I said yes and that I would like a table for one.
As it happened, the same waitress as yesterday came to my table, great big smile on her face.
"I just love your outfit!" she said and then asked if I found Winners alright yesterday. I thanked her for the compliment and said that I had not been yesterday, but was going to take a look today after the brunch.
All in all, it was a very nice experience and no-one, apart from the staff, paid me any particular attention.
I did got to Winners, by the way, and came across a pure merino wool sweater that had been made in Ireland. It is cream colour and has a crew neck and I couldn't resist it. For those who don't know, Winners is a discount store chain with bargains galore.
Well, I hope all you girls enjoyed my rendition of my Sunday Brunch.
Hugs,
Aurora Lynnette
Good for you. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend.
Thanks, Madeline,
I had a really enjoyable time.
Winner all round Aurora, lovely experience.
Aurora -
What a wonderful weekend you had. Thank you for sharing your experience.
XOXO
Suzanne
That sounds wonderful, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.
I too, just had a lovely meal out en femme. I had just finished a makeover at Sephora and stopped at a sidewalk restaurant for a glass of wine and a flatbread piazza. The staff were wonderful and nobody in the crowded restaurant not walking by gave me the least glance.
We are our own worst enemy when it comes to stressing over being in public en femme. Nobody cares, at least in certain areas and circumstances. Situational awareness is always important. I wouldn't walk down dark allies en femme, but I would avoid them at home as well.
Two different but lovely experiences.
What a wonderful experience to hear about. Good for you!
Thanks for taking the time to write about it. I love stories like this.
