Hello to all you lovely ladies,
I maybe should have posted this in the music section, but there again maybe not ...
There's a grateful dead song with the lyrics
"Sometimes the lights all shining me,
other times I can barely see ..."
Well yesterday was a 'shining on me' day. So many things came all at once
- I found myself being useful - however silly that sounds.
- I reached out and made a few friends requests which I should have done ages ago.
- I connected with a make up artist who is reasonably close to me, and signed up for some lessons.
- some super, super kind people from here have offered me some wigs to try out.
- a friend came up with a snail mail address of other good friends that I'd drifted away from and haven't seen for well over 20 years.
And to top it all, after a very bleary and late night, I had barely surfaced at midday when there was a knock on the door and my best gg friend was there asking "I was worried. Are you alright? You've not been answering your phone .. "
Cue Ray Davies of the Kinks, but I'll take the Kirsty McCall version of his song Days
"Thank you for the days ..."
Thank you CDH and love to you all.

(I might not be around to answer tonight - I'm taking a car load into the big city aka Cardiff, where my gg's son is having a try at stand up comedy - brave soul!)
Maybe this is the first rays of sunshine after a winter of dourness.
' All I hear is music, guaranteed to please' (Genesis) and hope there are plenty of good vibes coming to you.
Days is a great song. The Kinks obviously do it better, but I quite like Kirsty's version. I'm a huge Kinks fan. I was lucky enough to see them play live back in the 90s.
I live near the centre of Cardiff. where was the gig? Cardiff the Big city.... You'd like to think, but it's tiny. I lived in Birmingham for 10 years... Now that's a city!!!! I love the place. I've been back home in Cardiff for 25 years, but I'll always be part Brummie. My son lived in London. A huge city, but bloody awful... Other than when watching the Waterloo Sunset... Something I did whenever I visited London 🙂 I'd hate to live in London!

The lights are really shining on you Emma! Thanks for filling us in.
Emma, thank you for you sharing your story. It is wonderful to be able to connect, and reconnect, with old friends and acquaintances. It is especially nice that you have a friend close enough to you to take the time to come check on you. It sounds like it was a false alarm but having someone that has legitimate concern for you is nice to see.
Please let us know how the make up artist visit goes. I have considered working with a local artist as well for some lessons and I would be interested in your experience as to whether you feel it is useful or how the "vibe" goes.
I do want to comment on your first point about being useful. I don't think it is silly at all. I think everyone wants to feel useful or feel like they are doing something so it is something that makes sense to want to call out. I imagine you are proud of yourself for it and I think you should be 🙂
Thanks for adding to the thread, Natalie. Don't worry about the 'useful' comment, sometimes my posts don't make total sense, if you don't live in my head 😉
I will certainly get back to you on the MUA lessons visit
