So as I have been enlightened a little to the reason why women "rebel" against the matriarch stereotype of dresses and all things girly, I started to think about what women do daily to separate themselves from the Neanderthal likes of men. Let's use the same format as before starting with, you guessed it, the closet.

So as we look in said storage device, to the far right up high on the 2nd shelf you notice 6 pairs of worn and weathered jeans a stack of 12 cotton tees and 1 belt. A full wardrobe for a proper working man.

In the dresser is 12 pairs of socks half of which have various sizes of holes  in differing locations and 7 pairs of tighty whiteys or boxers, take your pick.

In the mudroom is 1 pair of work boots, less than a year old and 1 pair of sneakers, 12 years old.

This comprises the majority of his wardrobe and ZERO thought is needed to accomplish the task of preparing for work/weekend. It literally takes more time to brew coffee.

We shave our face daily to once a month and apply deodorant after we shower, usually just once daily.

Now. Women on the other hand are held to a bit higher standard. You cannot where the same outfit more than once a month. That means options. Satin panties are great but who wants to ruin a $40 pair of those once or twice month when aunt Flo arrives. Cotton are cheaper and clean easier. Fashionable bras while pretty are not comfortable to wear literally all day. 16 hrs in anything is an issue but it also has to support, position and shape 2 to 5 pounds of eye drawing sex appeal. Yea maybe that full coverage wide band is a better choice.

Let's talk skin. They shave legs every other day minimum and pits every day. Usually with an old razor, yep we forgot to get that at the store for her, and inevitably cuts herself. Then lotion twice a day everywhere.  That's got to be 10 pounds of lotion a week. Makeup daily. Plucking brows we know that hurts. Yep daily.  And God forbid she works up a sweat by noon because that means another shower and redo her face. Now we know that if she didn't have a man she would probably skip any or all of that. I mean hell men do. Or would she. Answer. Nope. It's what they do.  So I guess if they want to wear jeans then they kinda deserve that don't they.

Me. I still choose the dress

You make good points.

Me? Well, I'm always different. I wear girls jeans to work and have a bunch, anyways getting more. I have i think five pairs of work boots since I like to let them properly air out daily. I do shave my legs about twice a week, puts daily, pluck brows daily and apply makeup to them, daily. I try to wear different earrings each day, but don't always add i like some more than others and my wife doesn't like it if I wear too girlie earrings to work. I don't do full makeup daily, since I'm not out per se at work, though the signs are all there for those to see who can. I sometimes wear girl tops, sometimes guy shirts, sometimes t shirts usually button up or polos. I'm not exactly always a guy or a girl, I'm non binary and gender fluid. Often androgynous.

About 2 years ago I got an app through work which pays you in points if, among other things, you reach certain step totals (or equivalent) each day.  These points can be traded in for Amazon gift cards or Visa gift cards.

I discovered that weekdays I would easily reach these goals.  But on weekends I was falling way short.  So I started taking walks through my neighborhood.  It only took me a week or two before I reached the conclusion, if they are going to pay me to take a walk, I'm going to do it en femme.  And so I did.  Always in a skirt or (occasionally) a dress.

But I realized this wouldn't be practical during the winter.  I bought a couple of pair of leggings to do the walk in the colder months.  But by mid January, I bought an ankle length quilted nylon coat.  I realized that tights looked the same as leggings, and I started wearing a skirt under the coat instead of leggings.

For 15 months during working at home during the pandemic, I have put a lot of walking in.

I now go bare leg in the summer months with either a light skirt or a short one, a tank top or a short sleeve top (depending on the temperature), and low rise socks.  Occasionally I'll wear a dress.  I'll usually wear pink canvas sneakers, but sometimes my guy (all black but same style as my pink) sneakers, or white sneakers.

In later fall or mid to late spring, I'll wear pantyhose instead of socks.  My skirt is usually a bit longer (knee length to mid calf), and my top will be short sleeve or long depending on the weather.  I might wear a sweater as the temperature dips more.

In the winter the length of the skirt doesn't matter because my coat is ankle length and no one even knows if I'm wearing a skirt.  I might wear a hood or hat if it's really cold or windy, and maybe a scarf too.  Occasionally I'll wear boots instead of sneakers.

Now you may think that walking in a skirt and sneakers is a bit odd.  But over 2 years, this has just become my M.O.  (modus operandi, a term often used by detectives to mean the person's customs or habits, so that they can connect different crimes to the same person and sometimes get the jump on their next move).  I see a couple of people often (they only see me as Alison) and even wave or give a quick "Hello" as we pass.

I usually prefer the skirt and top to dresses because I can change the look with different tops, and I can change tops seasonally with many of the same skirts.

I get most of my body waxed every 5 weeks in the summer and 6 in the winter.  While I have a couple of problem areas where the hair grows early (often because it was trapped under the skin; my forearms and knees are the two worst problem areas), the rest of me stays smooth for a long time, and what does grow back is finer than it used to be.  My armpits are done as needed.  My face I do every day - I can feel the tightness in my face when I get up in the morning.

As I guy, I'll wear a pair of pants 3-4 days in a row and a shirt usually 2.  As a gal, I change what I wear almost every day.  (There are a few cases where I am going out for a walk and will change to guy clothes immediately thereafter so I may wear a skirt I wore the previous day.)

I get the difference of wearing jeans/pants vs. dresses/skirts, and can see why women may not want to wear dresses/skirts every day.  But for this gal, women's pants are for wearing women's things in stealth as a guy.  When Alison is out, it's rare that she isn't wearing a skirt or dress.
