Today was all planned out... my SO was going to be away with work all day, the teenager at school, and me working from home with no calls or meetings booked.  For the first time in ages it was going to be a full dressing day - in my mind I had the outfit all planned out.

Sadly, it all came to nothing!

Yesterday, the dog decided that rather than following her normal evening routine she got distracted and disappeared. No amount of searching in the dark last night found her. As a result, the SO changed plans to work from home so that we could carry on searching from first light this morning.

The good news... someone found the dog and took it to a local vet who contacted us through the information registered with the dog's microchip.  The bad news... the dog owes me big time for a missed dressing day!

Such a well needed post, Andi!

A tonic for our healing hearts after these last few days!

Glad you found your dog! I would move heaven & earth to find mine! Although, I recently found my doggie GRRRing my fluffy 6" marabou slippers. "Bad Dog!"

Thanks!

Hi Andi, and oh yes, I can so commiserate.  About 2 months ago, I wasn't wanting to dress that day but our lifetime housebound cat (who has never gone without prepared meals for even a day nor learned to hunt) got out, and we live in a very wooded and overgrown neighborhood with lots of hiding places...and lots of bigger hunter animals (foxes, etc). Most all of life stopped for over 24 hours as we searched and called and nothing. A little later my SO was out on the front walk just looking around and she looked down and there was the cat rubbing her leg...and totally famished.

Now there were other times not pet related that my best laid plans went astray as others momentarily changed theirs. Disappointing for sure, but (to continue with the moldy aphorisms) - tomorrow is another day.
