Though my goal is not to pass or present as a woman (at least for now), I do find myself more and more conscious of my body language. The more I dress, the more feminine I feel. And the more I’m in public, the more aware I am of how I appear.
So I’ve started working on some little things like keeeping my knees together when I’m sitting down, crossing my legs at the knee rather than an ankle on a knee, and walking more foot in front of foot instead of a wider male walk. And I’m slowly starting to notice the effects. Especially the walk, as it adds more of a sway to my hips.
There is still a lot I’m not aware of, and changes to be made, for sure. Eventually I will dabble in makeup and nails, and probably work on my voice a bit…

But what about everyone else? What minor changes did you or are you making early on? What have been your biggest challenges? And what tips do you have for becoming more feminine?

Hi Jamie!  I will say my walk gas improved a lot - last week in the liquor store one staff said to the cashier as I walked towards her " look out, they have a bounce in there step today"  with a smile.  I do bounce and sway a bit when walking now 🙂!  Still have a long way to go with my voice though, I have always had a habit of speaking too quickly.  Must  consciously remind myself to Slow Down!

Speaking too quickly, absolutely. I do that all the time, to the point where I mumble. Thank you, I will definitely pay attention to that.

It’s been very interesting to note that the more feminine I feel, the further I want to go and to experiment.
Thanks.

Hi Jamie. Sounds like you've got a good start. A few observations I've made. One thing I work on is arm movement. Unlike a male, when walking, a female will swing their arms from the elbow or not at all. Many times, from probably habit, they will keep one arm crooked like holding a hanging purse on that arm. Of course a bent limp wrist is common too. A female sits and walks with an erect back and not slouching. Their overall posture is more closed and contained closer to the body than a male who just flails and stomps around. In general move a bit more slowly and fluidly. With practice you will find yourself moving more feminine every time you move. Good luck.

In the articles section of CDH there is a piece on femme walking that has some good pointers.

Record your self. Set your phone/camera up at the end of a hallway, top or bottom of stairs, back yard, etc. Wear different outfits. Walk towards and away from the camera. Start walking out of frame then you will be in stride when you get into frame. Ignore the camera, all you are doing is walking from your bedroom to the kitchen. It’s a much different perspective than looking in a mirror. I saw how hunched my shoulders were when wearing a sleeveless dress. I really needed to pull my shoulders back and stick my boobs out! Recording really helps me with movement and what outfits look better or worse than I thought.

I was just overwhelmed by a wave of stage fright. The video is a great idea, and I will try and set that up. But I’m almost horrified by what I will probably see. 😂

Most of us are our own worst critics. The first time I watched a recording of myself I thought “O.M.G. I look rediculously hideous!”, so I stepped away and did some chores, laughing to myself at how silly I looked. Watched it again a few hours later trying to be as impartial and detached as I could. Well, her legs aren’t too bad, that skirt and shoes look good on her, she needs to quit flailing her arms all over the place and slow down a bit. Her basic walk is OK but could use refinement, etc. Not quite the disaster I thought I first viewed. Definitely room for improvement (there always is).

Hey Jamie, walking is definitely one thing for me although it only applies to walking from the bathroom to bed each night lol. I'm only Jess in the bedroom so I don't worry about feminizing myself outside of it. The way I feminize myself the most Jamie is by taking long hot bubble baths and slipping in to the most beautiful/gorgeous lingerie you can imagine for bedtime. Pure heaven and nothing is as feminine as that imo!

I’ve never really enjoyed a bath. To me it’s not relaxing at all.
But I also don’t like coffee, or The Beatles. So I’m a very odd girl.
But walking is something that seems to be on many minds here. I’m definitely going to focus on that. 😘
