Hi Ladies
HildaRuth here.
The awkwardness of doing up buttons. having only been dressing fairly recently I'm having to overcome 70 years of muscle memory in doing up buttons 'the wrong wy round'. Not helped by now having lung nails - won't do withou them - or fingers getting stiff. Anyone else suffer from button inadequacy? I remember that happening to my mother. So on this particular occasion Oscar Wilde got it wrong: All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his.
And as for doing up necklaces with hands behind my head, eyes closed so I can envisage the clip mechanism fitting into the ring - OMG - what a performance. And then I discovered magnetic fastenings which can be attached to any necklace and are so discrete as to be almost invisible - bliss. If you have suffered with necklace inadequacy then these are for you.

When I first became serious about dressing I had to remind myself that the buttons were on the other side. The actual process of buttoning up wasn't a problem, it was just overcoming decades of maleness. However the unbuttoning has remained a problem. First is the feeling of being backwards and second the fingers don't want to cooperate.
Necklaces and bras get hooked up in front just like many GG women do. I can unhook in back though.

Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for your reply I'm very fortunate in that I am able to dress 24/7. I've taken to having my nails 'gelled' so my nails are permanently long. I think I may have to compromise and have them a little shorter! But still decorated with sparkly red.

Hi Hilda,
I found many years ago that if I would just slow down a half second or so, and watch myself do it in a mirror, it became much easier, but it still took practice.
For necklace clasps, I would just work in front then slide it around to the back. The magnetic clasps work really very well, and I do like them, I just have off putting them on most of my necklaces. And do be careful with some of the heavier necklaces as the magnets have been known to let go occasionally.
