On several threads throughout CDH, many express thoughts along the lines of how much more colorful or interesting or exciting female clothes are. I totally agree. But it also occurred to me that the words used to describe female apparel are also more colorful and interesting and exciting.
I’ve always loved the word “lingerie.” It’s so much better than underwear. Also, panties is better than boxers or jockeys. Even an old fashioned term like girdle or, better yet, panty girdle give me tingles. (Both are way better than the modern shape wear.)
Do any others get the same buzz from saying or just thinking the words used for “intimate apparel,” another great term?
Of course Kimmie. ALL THE TIME.
Well said!
Sometimes I will overhear the word "swimsuit" or "bathing suit" in conversations at work (people talking to each other about their wives or daughters). I notice a small tremor in my nerves when those words are said at an unexpected time, but I try to act like I am not paying attention unless they are talking to me directly.
Yes Kimmie, love hearing all those wonderful words.

Chemise, negligee, babydoll nightie, teddy, camisole, and garter belt/suspender bring up some lovely images. And the best word attached to them all Lace.

I wear the trunks in public, one piece in private.
Silk, nylon, gathered, camisole, lace, sheer, stockings and other words in the female collective to describe clothing is so much more beautiful instead of wingtip, whity tighty, boxer, shirt and other drab names men have to use.
Spot on Paula. I would also add satin.
Just about anything in French sounds better..just ask Gomez Adamms (at least in the TV show, I don't know if it applies to the movies.)
I say pants, but my wife says underwear...boring. Blouse is so much more expressive then shirt. Garters>>suspenders or stay ups (sorry Brits), although I do like the term knickers.
another is "Decolletage"-or a low neckline on a woman's dress or top or
a woman's cleavage as revealed by same

OMG yes Kimmie. Satin nightgown on satin sheets when you go to bed. Just don't let the static get you and try to stay on the bed (no sliding), giggles.

Of course Kimmie,
All those words are so much sweeter and prettier than our drab cloths.
I so love my panties compared to mu under wear.

Oh yes Kimmie, i think the whole femme thing revolves around nice femme words. Stilettos, chemise, as cyn said... Decolletage, all nice words 🙂 now look at the guys... underpants, boxers, work boots, slacks etc, boooring! maybe i'm just biased, yes i am!! who cares anyway!! describing words for femme attire is nice, the clothes are nice, geez, being femme is not nice, its awesome!!!
