A few weeks ago we had the chance to sign up to attend a Halloween party in a nearby city, something I haven't done since I was a kid, and have never done en femme. I quickly ran it by my generally accepting wife, and she agreed!
Then there was the decision as to what to wear! One of our first thoughts was to do a role reversal, and she dress up as a 20's gangster and I'd be the girlfriend, but my wife then decided she didn't want to go as a man. We settled on an Olympic Goddess outfit for her, and I chose Cleopatra.
We had told our grown up kids we were going to a Halloween party, and when asked what we were wearing I told them the truth, we didn't know. I see my daughter once or twice a week, and was wondering when the subject would come up again, and tonight it did. So I told what her Mom was going as, then said I'm doing something a bit more radical, "I'm going as Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile".
She said sounds cool, and I need to see the pictures!
Honestly I had little worry about acceptance as she has had a number of coworkers and friends who are gay, lesbian, or trans, and she is good with all of that. Then there is the inkling that perhaps she has suspected? One interesting incident I think I shared here occurred a few months at her place. Now you need to know my daughter has a large collection of Disney mugs. She and my wife were making coffee in the kitchen at her place and she asked my wife "What Disney Princess would Dad like to be". My wife said she almost choked, but said, you better go ask him! Of course I chose Cinderella!
Getting back to tonight, of course this is just Halloween, she doesn't yet know I get dressed up as often as I can!
I have a son too, and he doesn't yet know, and I am much shyer about telling him, mainly because of the guy to guy thing I think. Though he isn't a macho guy either, and might even have an inkling about this side of me as well.
I have wanted to tell my kids, and my daughter in particular about my Amy side for a long time, but my wife has been very much against it, however of late her opinion has mellowed a lot, so she was cool with me telling our daughter the truth. I really so much did not want to lie to her.
After so long hiding this, and being ashamed of myself I don't want to hide so much anymore. I am not out to everyone in my life, and don't think I shall be anytime soon, but I've stopped the hiding.
Amy
Good for you.
Hugs, Liara
Really can't do much more than be honest with them. Shouldn't be much problem as I am sure you raised them right, tolerant and accepting.

Amy-
A few years ago my wife was dressing up as Elsa, and she said I could be Anna next Halloween. I was so looking forward to it, but life happens and it was another missed chance. So I just sing a song, and everything is becomes prefect, as i wait for the next time.
Hope you enjoy your party.
Tina xxxx
Thats wonderful, Amy, I hope yo have a great time as "the Queen", and it does sound as if your daughter may suspect.
Good luck with going forward
Hugs, Regi👸💖
Should be a great evening. I hope you go dressed and made up as fully as possible. It could open doors for more questions and the honest answers you wish to give. Enjoy!
How wonderful! The growth continues...
Thanks Grace, I don't mind snakes, but poisonous ones, not so much, but I do have a face snake armband!
Amy
Enjoy the costume party Amy!
Alice
Good on Ya; I don’t imagine any of that is easy. I do admire the flexibility Amy has to venture out and about while maintaining a level of anonymity. Enjoy Halloween 🎃 👗
Good call Grace. The OP should carry a small basket with a rubber snake in it... trick or treat!
Great idea....it could keep an eye on your bar bill...if it's an adder......
Ouch.....sorry xx
Well everyone thank you for the responses and I thought I'd let you know the party was great, the costumes were amazing with quite a number rather racy and/or fetishy. We had a fabulous time, and I hope we can go again next year.
My wife and I were with two other couples so we were in a bit of a group, but I did get casually hit on a few times though I had no trouble with anyone getting too insistent.
The other cool thing was the staff were in costume as well, which really added to the vibe.
As promised I shared a couple of pictures of me and my wife with my daughter and she said how great we looked. This is the first time she has seen me dressed up, though she doesn't yet (I think) know those are pictures of someone named Amy. Time will tell how this shakes out, but this is a good first step about opening up a little bit about my sweet Amy.
My kids are all pretty smart, and my daughter knows quite a few people in the LGBTQ spectrum along with a couple who are into the local drag scene. The location for this event is not far from where she works, and I have no idea if she knew about the party.

Thanks for sharing, Amy. Congratulations on the progress you're making in not wanting to hide or be ashamed of your feminine side.
