Good Day Ladies,
So today I had to drive across the Canada US Boarder to an airport and fly to Alabama.
I got dressed this morning in skiny jeans, long sleeve t-shirt bra and breast forms, full makeup.
I get to the boarder and boarder security check my passport, and asked where I am going and why. Looking at the photo, I say I have changed a little. He responded with I can still see it is you.
At the airport security lines were long. The woman behind me struck up a conversation a out the lines and how she disliked the security screening. I get to ID check no questions, through the scanner, no questions. Put my shoes and belt back on. Head to the gate. Needed to pee, so into the ladies. Then onto the plain. The woman who sits next to me has the same color nails. She was a talker. So the two hour flight spent talking about why we were going to Birmingham Alabama. Pets, kids, leaving our partners at home to fend for themselves.
Next the rental car. No issues at all. Check in at the hotel
Again not an eye batted. A coworker I have not seen in years messages they are heading to dinner as they are I town for the same training. I say sure. Freshen my makeup and head to the restaurant. 4 coworkers are there. 1 I have never met before 3 I have not seen since being put. The two women want to know who did my makeup. When I said I did they look surprised, then they wanted to know what I used. Dinner conversation was completely normal. No one seemed to care that I was all done up. I was told.i looked beautiful.
This all takes place in a state with bathroom use laws preventing trans people from using their bathroom of choice.
So tomorrow is a day of teaching people who have not seen me since my coming out.
The more people I come out to the easier it get.
Have a great day
Paula
Paula -
How nice to hear of your experience and your coworkers acceptance. Good luck with your training session.
XOXO
Suzanne
That is great that you had such a normal, as you should. Hopefully a few people in Alabama are now a little better educated and will spread the message that trans people are just people and that their laws are completely ridiculous.
BTW, how did TSA screening go? We're you wearing forms? Which scanner type did you go through? Any extra checks or comments?
I am just curious as I just went through TSA and my forms in my carry were flagged by the x-ray. No big deal, but my bag was searched.
happy days Paula and more to come too. Keep us updated.
The first day of teaching went well. I was in my standard work clothes. Male shirt and pants. With my eye shadow, mascara, lip stick, foundation and blush. Pink fingernails.
I received hugs from 4 different people when they saw me.
Now to go out for dinner.
