One area of womens clothing I’ve neglected is trousers & jeans. I had a pair of skinny jeans a few years ago. I got rid of my skinny jeans to make space as I hardly wore them.  I‘ve been wearing dresses or skirts & tops; slowly getting things together so I now have a nice selection for the year round.

During the autumn of last year I thought it would be useful to have some suitable trousers to wear in the cold weather; on reflection I decided to round out my wardrobe by having some suitable jeans for use in the spring and autumn as well.  So far I’ve managed to find some suitable trousers for autumn and a nice pair of black jeggings to wear for the winter; both picked up second hand in charity shops. I’m currently looking for some suitable denim skinny jeans and/or jeggings suitable for use in the spring.

Getting back into outfits with trousers, means getting used to tucking again; currently I’m using the top part of a pair of opaque tights which are a size smaller than I wear normally, they work reasonably well as a gaff.

Have you found the right trousers and or jeans to suit your needs ?

@ajthairms  Hi! I am a big fan of Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans. They have wide belt loops, a decent zipper, nice big pockets and fit well. They are made of a lighter weight material than men's jeans.  Nobody has ever commented on the fact that I am wearing woman's jeans. Best, Marlene.

I have a few pairs myself.  Worn fairly often.  I wouldn't consider them skinny jeans though.

@marleneroberts  I second this (or third, or fourth it... 😊) about the GV Amanda jeans.

I first learned about them here about two months ago, and have 5 pairs now. Took some trial-and-error and returns to get the right size and length. Also took a while to understand all of the available flavors: Amanda classic straight, Amanda High-Rise Straight Pull-On, Shape Effect Pull-On Straight-Leg, and then you add in Flares, boot cut...arrgggggghhhhhh! I'm still not sure I understand them!

But I love them. I like them quite snug in the hips and thighs (love the "hug"), love the stretchy material. And they really pass as men's jeans unless someone looks closer than they should be looking.

Be aware that GV Amanda are not (at least not the flavors I have tried) super skinny all the way down. If you want that, Levi's 311 Shaping Skinny Jeans, 710, 711, and 721 are almost like leggings. But I tried these on, and they just looked silly on my man-legs. Levi's 501 woman's Skinny are the tightest I can wear and not look goofy. And Levi's various flavors are more mind-boggling to sort out than GV!

Good Luck, @ajthairms!

@ajthairms Hi, Alicen, I too prefer to wear dresses and skirts. BUT around the house and doing yard work I usually wear jeans and leggings. In fact most days when I am out shopping it is jeans and leggings.

BUT on Sundays I usually wear a dress to my Church and then wear it all day, sometimes out shopping. This last week we have had some of the coldest days of the season so far. This last Sunday I wore faux leather leggings to Church and afterward to a family get-together in a restaurant.

Trying to be full-time I am wearing more jeans and leggings to blend in.

@ajthairms I have never worn trousers in Anna mode, normally a dress, sometimes a skirt.

In male mode, I mostly wear shorts or loose Nepalese trousers. If I wear jeans, I have to wear boot cut - I've got runner's legs

@ajthairms That is something I'm constantly on the lookout for but it has proven to be a tricky one. Finding ladies jeans with a 34" inside leg & a 32" waist is kind of like looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. There is always Long Tall Sally but I don't care for what they have on offer right now. I have seen a couple online but the ones I like are always out of stock when I look.

I must be honest, I don't really understand Jeggings. I love my leggings & wear them frequently so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what purpose they serve. Still, if I see the right pair then never say never.

I wear jeans nearly every day.  I've had great luck with Amazon Essentials skinny jeans.  I also wear Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans.  And I have a few pairs of leggings from various brands.

@ajthairmsIve been wearing woman’s skinny jeans and jeggings for a while now. Which I even wear while presenting as a man. I have a few different pairs of dress pants, a few capris for summer , a pair of faux leather pants ( love them even being skin tight but they are super stretchy). Like you I started buying them at thrift shops and picked up some great deals. Other then summer time I will always still wear pantyhose under them and do enjoy the same feminine feeling as I do in a dress.

Dear Alicen,

re: TUCKING and GAFF

Never consider a 'run' in your panty hose time for the trash.

Never consider a 'missing' cotton sock BAD NEWS.

I cut BUT SAVE the waistband off my ruined 'run infected' panty hose

I cut the 'toe' and 'heel' regions off the cotton sock.

I thread the panty hose waist band through the tube of the cotton sock. The ends of the waist band are extended beyond the sock.

Step into the stretched out ends of the waist band (the cotton sock between your legs) , pull the waistband/sock up whereby you eventually cover 'your package'. Seat the 'balls'  into their 'sockets', pull 'your member' to the rear. FURTHER SECURE by pulling up upon the hip region of the panty hose to create  a 'rear thong look".

Trust me. This will be the closest you'll ever come to a 'camel toe' look in stretch jeans....

If you have a better way, pass the scalpel. LOL!

Sincerely, With Love, and ABSOLUTELY NO DISRESPECT,
Thea

Because I dress androgynously, yes, pants and jeans are useful to me.

This also means that I look for not-too-male looking pants, but something that could still be easily mistaken as men's wear. This is a minefield that needs to be traversed with care. Skinny jeans are amazing, but then I have the legs for them, too.

Trousers or dress pants are a different story, though. Anyone in the closet needs to choose very carefully. Women's pants stand out because of colours, their wide pant legs or bell bottom cuffs. Short pant leg styles of various types are also common.

If you can't afford getting caught, the labels will be dead giveaways.

Hi Alicen,

I have established a mixture of trousers as well as skirts and dresses in my ladies wardrobe. At the moment I don't have any ladies jeans. I did try on a pair of skinny jeans about a year ago but felt I looked a bit silly in them, so that was that!

I enjoy wearing ladies trousers in combination with a variety of different tops (this morning it was black trousers and an ivory cashmere Fairisle jumper - lovely to wear on this cold dreary day). I see many ladies wearing trousers, so in my mind this is as feminine as wearing skirts or dresses, though I do wear the skirts rather more than trousers, even in the winter.

However one thing I have not got into is leggings or jeggings ... not even thought about it.

I was always a skirt or dress gal. Of course I had jeans and love them. Jeans are always a wardrobe staple and the right pair can look fabulous with most any style shoe. The last few years I have been adding more pants to my wardrobe. I got rid of my skinny jeans and have been going for a more tailored look. Most of the ones I own are Susan Graver Liquid Knit. They feel wonderful, look classy and so easy care. If I'm traveling they roll up and toss in a suitcase, unroll and look perfect with no ironing. She has different types of LK and they all look great.

I think I just got tired of the casualness of the area we are in and wanted something to make me feel prettier.

I love the diversity of opinions here! Everybody has different goals and different things that make them feel pretty. That's what makes the world — and this community —interesting! Me, I'm a casual gal. I can't see myself ever wearing a skirt, dress, or dressy woman's pants! Go figure! 🤣

I am a Levi fan since I was a little kid. 501 button fly jeans have always been my go to until I discovered Levi women's jeans. Now that is all I wear when I wear long pants, which is rare as I am in shorts 360 days out of most years. The women's Levis are just so comfortable. Now I only wear my 501s when I am grubbing around and I need the extra toughness of the mens fabric.

@jjandme   Which Levi's women's jeans do you like? I'm trying Women's 501 skinny right now. They are skinny, but not super skinny. One of my replies above details my thoughts on other skinny Levi's lines.

For the longest time I only wore skirts, as I felt that since i wear pants in drab i didn't want to wear pants as Wendy.

Of late I bought a few pairs of faux leather pants from shein/temu.  Since I'm not very tall, I've shied away from usual vendors as the inseam is usually 30.  At 30 i'm swiffering the floor.  There are some on shein/temu with inseams at 28, which seem to work well.

For me, it's nothing but dresses or skirts although I do wear leggings under skirts at times in the winter. When I first started going out in public, I bought a pair of ladies jeans and a casual black pair of pants. I wore the jeans twice in almost 3 years and have never worn the black pair. After wearing pants all my life as a guy, dresses and skirts feel so feminine to me that I'm not interested in anything else. There are many girls who look lovely in pants, both dressy or casual, but I feel most comfortable in pretty dresses or skirts.

I Finally got a pair of Skinny jeans off the clearance rack at Kohls. I was thinking ....NO WAY As I carried them to the dressing room. They fit and left 3 inches of ankle for my ankle bracelets.  For casual wear I love them. My tucking is only 2 pair of Nylons with the legs cut off 3 inches below the crotch. They work for me.

@ajthairms Skinny jeans, jeggings, or some shorts (with leggings under) are my go to. Though I ignore the fashion advice that skinny is out and wide leg jeans are in.

I absolutely live skinny jeans and jeggings!

I have a couple of pairs of 'tall' fitting, black 'spray-on' skinny jeans I wear for going out in semi-drab, plus a blue pair that I inherited from my SO that are slightly less skin-tight that I wear out and about more generally.

I hardly wear ladies jeans or slacks as I have always felt that I wear pants in male mode and I'm expressing my femme side when I dress so dresses and skirt/top combos are what I should wear. I'm slowly changing my mind on this as I'm realizing I can wear female jeans in public and no one will know the difference so long as I have the right size. I have some jeans my wife gave me which fit okay but are a bit short in the legs to wear out of the house. I also have some dress slacks but are a bit too femme to wear out, the same for  capris and leggings. Part of the reason for my not wearing them out is an agreement with my wfie to keep my dressing in the house. There are some exceptions though. I may need to talk to her about wearing female jeans out of the house, just have to pick the right time to ask.

XOXO
Suzanne

I've started experimenting with hip pads and butt pads when wearing trousers to give a more rounded figure that I've noticed is more prevalent these days, not sure if I've got it right yet.

@blondie747 Once I learned that these pads existed (the advertising pictures are hilarious, BTW), I ordered enough that I can always wear something to round me out even when only at home.

The fiber butt pads are so thin that I have layered three pairs, and I have a pair of silicone hip pads which can make it difficult to pull on tight, non-stretchy pants.

My wife used to tease me about wearing them, but she hasn't done that so much after I pointed out that she can wear them, too, and for the same reason - a flat butt. But at least she noticed a difference, so I guess that they are effective.

i never wear jeans en fem. always skirts and dresses. when its really cold a dress or skirt with knee high boots or with nylons. amazing how warm nylons can keep your legs warm. or maybe it's just me. if you look hot maybe you feel hot. closest thing i have to pants is short shorts and they look hot with designer nylons. i only wear designer nylons. very rare to catch me in nylons. i like to show off my legs.

When in drab I like wearing women's trousers and jeans that can pass as drab.

When dressing up, I enjoy leggings and jeggings, they're incredibly comfortable! I'm also fond of faux leather trousers and leggings for their smooth texture and shiny appearance.
