Well prolonged sitting has now been described as the new smoking.
It's deemed bad for the heart, increasing the risk of diabetes type 2,and even linked to cancer.
In today's world we tend to be sitting down spending to much time either working at computers, playing games or watching TV.
A study in Sweden has concluded the best way to counter prolonged sitting is to get up and move every 30 minutes. It's findings that 2/3 minutes of being active, ideally strolling around for every 30 minutes sitting is the best way to protect your metabolic health.
Even better climbing stairs or squats.
So girls remember look after your health if your job requires you to sit for 30 minutes none stop have a 2 /3 minute walking break.
Look after your health,
Lol Amanda xx

Oh dear. As a driving instructor I sit down for a living. I'm obviously going to dye of diabetes in the car rather than the pupil trying to kill me every 10 minutes.
I'd rather die quietly in my sleep than (my bus driver)father's 40 passengers.

Hi Leonara,
Yes your absolutely right fresh fruit and veggies too.
Gosh walk I was reading an article the other day, in fact I was going to do a post on it, but obviously I forgot.
The article studied this subject of steps for fitness especially interesting was the findings. In middle aged people that walk 7000 steps a day was enough to improve their life expectancy and health to a certain level. What the survey also found was that if this group walked more that 7000 step it never increased the expectancy or health any higher. So basically walking more than 7000step was pointless.

Hi Ayla,
Well obviously you are sitting down for long periods, and stressful too I should think especially with today's traffic.
Maybe it's a great point to make and encourage people to have breaks when safe to do so at reasonable time scale not just for fatigue.
Safe motoring (I see there is 23 new additions to the British Highway Code) wonder how many existing drivers know them?

Hi Amanda,

Don’t forget to take a break and rest your eyes.  Don’t want eye strain to set in now.

Thanks Amanda for this timely reminder!
I should put my iPhone down and take a walk.
