Good evening ladies,
I don’t beleve how this week turned out. Since Friday my week has done a 180 degree turn.
If you have read any of my post in the past week I think that you will agree that for the exception of one of them You could say that I have beèn totally down and that was caused by my ex. Well that is no longer.
Earlier this week I had talked to the store manager of a large grocery store chain and when I got finished I was told that he would contact me by the end of this week with a job offer.
Well he hadn't called me as of mid afternoon today so I went to the store to purchase some groceries and I saw him. I inquired about the job offer and he told me that the front end manager(cachiers, baggers etc) would be contacting me about the position that was available. So I guess i got the job.
Before this I had seen my new Oncology Doctor. He and three Nurses talked to me about what was goiing to happen regarding the cancerin my Prostate and what they seggested be done. I accepted their findings and suggestions.
Then because of my low income they informed me that most of the cost if not all would be covered by my insurance, grants and or the Cancer society.
Then the nurse asked me about my COPD and what i was taking for it and I told her nothing because i couldn't afford the prescriptions and she told me that they would also be coovered by this grant.
Now are these reasons to celebrate or what.
I am jumping for joy and celebrating with several glasses of wine.

That is wonderful news Kathleen. Most if these assistance programs are pretty much unknown to the public at large. My radiation treatments were every weekday for 29 sessions. The driving distance was just under 140 miles round trip. My niece, who was with me through it all, found out the the cancer center would cover my fuel because of the distance through just visiting with other family members while waiting for me to go through my treatments.
There so many programs and Grant's available, but most people don't know about them or who to ask. Stephanie did a lot of leg work to help me through it, I am lucky to have had her on my team.
Ask any and everyone at your treatment center about all the aid that is available, you will be surprised.
Hang in there and don't let this beat you. Fight back and stay positive.

Thanks for your input Paula. I initially started paying my co-pay until i got my first statement. It had a breakdown of who paid what. The insurance company negotiate my bill down from $4,100.00 down to just a few hundred dollars. I had to pay over $250.00 but the insurance company only paid $67.00. No That is not a mistake. That is when I said that's it and I call the hospital and applied for financial aid based on my low income.
I don’t have any answers yet but everyone at the hospital says that I will qualify.

Congratulations Kathleen! That is wonderful news.
