Hi, ive been away for a while, health scare but i think I'm okay now.
A bit of light thought about walking and how is the best way to emulate the ladies. I don't mean the exaggerated catwalk model walk. I have watched women walk for my adult life, always a pleasure but recently I've taken an interest in a more invested way. There is a square in town surrounded by coffee shops, ideal viewing spot on a nice day. Women walk differently but also differently from each other, so the answer is subtle and so far I'm no closer to the solving the puzzle. Is it the shoes or a mixture of thinggs and how do you ladies manage x

Paula ...

Firstly, welcome back, hope you're feeling ok...

Secondly...it IS subtle. I do a lot of people watching and GG's are no different to men in a lot of cases. They waddle, stomp, clomp, stride, tiptoe, etc etc ...just like men in fact. They definitely do seem to walk more ladylike in heels....but in trainers or flats their is a wide range of styles.

For me, it's about pace ..I never hurry, just take measured confident strides and make them smaller. It's not just all about wiggling your hips or your ass.....because we are built differently...

just take it slow and sure....well that's my opinion.

Well I agree with people watching Grace, not all GG's walk with Grace (no pun intend Grace sweetie xx).
I think Cd's have to moderate their stride to a more convincing smaller one than normally they would walk at. Men often have a stride longer than a female and more heavier one too. We can emulate a swing but our hips and bums aren't designed for this, where as a female 's anatomy is, with more wideness in the hips and more plumpness around this area which gives a more natural Wiggle. But many factors contribute to how we walk, ie type foot wear, flat heals or boots etc. Weight too, injuries. As emulating females it's just a matter of finding a way to walk that flatters ourselves and we are happy with.

Hi Paula

Welcome back I think Grace is right slow but sure, my observations are that women tend to walk slower and seem to notice everything while walking. I hope your health continues to improve take it steady sweetheart.

Best Wishes

Sarah

When I walk in tennis shoes or flat shoes I tend to walk heel then toe. I've noticed that the higher my heel the further up my foot my weight is centered. 2 to 3 inch heels around the arch of my foot. 4 inch heels more on the toe or ball of my foot. The higher the heel the shorter my stride. Experience from going heel first in 4 inch heels resulted in very unlady like splits a sprained ankle and a broken shoe heel. Just glad I was hidden in my home. Short smooth steps is my choice with toe and heel touching floor at same time. By the way I went to wide heels after that lol. What makes you feel beautiful and comfortable is the best choice

Welcome back, and I hope your health issues are behind you, Paula
I agree with the other girls, I also do a lot of observing, and a large portion of girls, walk anything but ladylike.
I simply walk mostly one foot in front of the other, slower smaller steps, and try to walk, with Grace, at all times.
Hugs, Regi👸💕

Women have a higher center of gravity than men.  This is one main difference.  Another is that it would be uncomfortable for their breasts to be bouncing with every step.

The difference is subtle but can be achieved with a little practice.  First, stand straight, stomach in, chest proud.  This will raise your center of gravity as well.  Stand with your palms facing your sides, not facing the back.  Shoulders should be down away from your ears, relaxed on the top but pulled back slightly.  Pretend your head is being pulled straight up on a puppet string.  Let your arms hang loose at your sides.  (Another way to describe it is to stand "at attention", but relax the top of the shoulders and pull them slightly back.  Keep your legs more relaxed than "at attention" too.)

If you can maintain this pose, you are already almost there.  Now for the movement.  Men tend to walk by picking up a leg, pushing it forward, and landing on it.  Women walk by pushing their pelvis forward, then shifting their legs to keep balance, walking heel to toe.  This is why women appear to "glide" as they walk, whereas men "lumber."  The "glide" will also minimize the bounce of your breast.

As you walk, keep your feet close to the center line.  Don't "put one foot in front of the other," or "cross the center line" as you walk.  That is what models do on the runway, but the average woman doesn't walk that way.  Let your arms hang, they will swing naturally as you walk.  Just remember to keep the palms in, and check that you are holding your stomach in (it is work that we don't normally do and we tend to slowly let the stomach muscles relax).

If you do this, you may feel your glutes moving up and down as you walk.  This is the wiggle you see when watching a woman from behind.

A couple of don'ts. Don't wiggle your hips side to side when walking.  Save that for dancing, or strutting.  And don't look at the ground when you walk.  It will through off your balance.  If you need to look down (to avoid a tree trunk, uneven sidewalk, a small hole that may catch your heel, or a curb, for example), take a quick glance down to see where the problem is, then bring your head back up and use your instincts to navigate the problem area.

If you can master this in flats, heels are very similar.  Just walk in smaller steps from heel to toe.

Stairs pose a different challenge, particularly in heels.  When in heels you should hold the handrail, wall, or another person for balance.  Walking down put the heel on the step and roll to the ball of the foot, making sure the whole foot lands on the step.  With higher heels you may feel more comfortable turning your foot at an angle to the step.    Going up put your whole foot flat on the step.  You can also let the heel dangle off the step and just go up on the balls of you feet, but be extra careful not to catch the heel when lifting your foot to the next step up.

It sounds like a lot, but the trick is to maintain the posture.  The rest comes naturally, it will feel like the best way to move.  If you have a corset, this helps raise your center of gravity, keep the stomach in and the chest proud.
