I have been working hard on losing weight. Since December 1st, I have now lost 48 lbs. I started at 240 and now down to 192. My goal is another 17 lbs to get to 175. The downside is now all my beautiful clothes are just too big. So I'm getting rid of the larger clothing and buying clothes that fit. I went to Torrid today and tried on some new jeans, size 14 is now a perfect fit. I'm not going to buy too many things until I have reached my weight goal.

No I'm not using any of the new and very expensive weight loss drugs but watching everything I eat and exercise each morning.

Congrats Carla! And fitting into those jeans is cool. I wear size 16 and want to get down into 14's.

@autumngold when I put them on and stood in front of the mirror the sales girl said they fit really well. She did mention that it won't be long before 14 will be too big.

great work!   Weight loss is a long, slow process (if done responsibly) but the new clothes with look and fit so much better!

@pantyloverguy I lost a similar amount in the last year, but I don't recommend the method to anyone. I had cancer, and as part of the surgery to remove the cancer, they also removed a portion of my stomach. I dropped about 50 lbs in a year (going from about 215 to about 165 at 5'5"). I am still struggling because of some water weight (my feet often feel swolen at night) but am keeping fairly consistent in my weight now. I had to give away a lot of clothes this year. Skirts and skorts were falling off of me and 2 corsets were not doing anything for my figure even when fully closed.

I altered a few skirts that I really liked so they'd fit better (either by taking in the waistband or adding belt loops). I bought some jeans in a smaller size (I wear plain women's jeans in male mode frequently), and I still need a belt to keep them slipping down, although that's more from the lack of hips than anything. I've replaced the corsets with a smaller size, and only bought 3 skirts from Goodwill and one casual summer dress from Torrid as a replacemnt so far. I also bought some smaller belts because I was making many extra holes in my older belts.

Congrats Carla!

I too want to get back down to a 14. Or <deity> willing, a 12.

It's always a good excuse to buy new clothes. 🙂

I gave up drinking nearly two years ago and within six months, I had lost 35lbs. No diet, nothing different, just not drinking. Weight has stopped falling on its own now and want to lose a few more pounds so going to Slimming World and watching what I eat (within reason).

Hi Carla and congratulations!

I know what you are experiencing as I too lost an awful lot of weight. I went from 92Kg to 66kg - about 203lb to 146lb. I'm 6' tall so I got quite slim and I remember how amazing it felt when I could start buying clothes that UK size 10 instead of 16! Such a pity you can't make your feet get smaller too 😉

Anyway, keep up the good work, and keep away from all those cookies and fries, no matter how tempting they are! 😉

I don't want to drift Carla's thread, but wanted to add that I find my greatest eating weakness is emotional eating. Stress at work can be a terrible trigger for me. I am working on it, I want to get into smaller clothes.

@autumngold Definitely!

When I was working I would find myself comfort eating - snacking on stuff like biscuits and crisps and other rubbish. After I was made redundant in 2017 I found myself with lots of free time and was able to begin dressing again... and wasn't happy with how I looked so gave up all the fatty and sugary foods.

@caroline2k I get that. In a long phase of not being able to dress I have let myself go. I couldn’t find the motivation to bounce back. Now, after dressing again, I find it easier to motivate, because I don’t fit anymore 😀

@autumngold mine was eating from boredom and eating out too much. I stopped buying processed foods, cook at home now and when I start to feel any hint of being full I stop eating. For me portion control was key to start the weight loss.

Congrats Carla I know the feeling.  I have lost 46 lbs since October down to 178  from 224 my goal also 175.  I t has been wonderful and I feel so good.  Stephanie was one of my motivations.  A few dresses and blouses finally fit and my wife said we need to go shopping for some new clothes.  Pretty excited about that.  Just asked my wife if she thought I might pass or close enough to go public in a new dress she bought for me and her answer was YES.  Never would have thought that could happen.
