Hello, ladies;
What's in a name? Well, it's an essential part of our identities. When a name is mentioned, it brings up a mental image of how that person looks (or perhaps their avatar, for CDH ladies). When I first joined CDH, I was asked to provide a femme name - and was caught completely off-guard. So what did I do? My mind lept to the name of the person nearest and dearest to me: my wife; I squished her first and middle names together, and Bettylou was born. Now, for reasons to be explained shortly, it is time to retire "Bettylou". When the real Betty Lou asked me a couple of months ago if I had a girl name, I had to reveal this identity theft. A name change was requested, and after a short discussion we chose "Lulu", and this is the name by which I now wish to be known.
And now, for the reason for this request: One week ago yesterday, the great love of my life, my biggest supporter and best girlfriend passed away. I am closing her affairs and ending her online presence everywhere. Her name will live on forever in my heart, but it should be a private thing. So please, ladies, say "goodbye" to Betty Lou (and Bettylou), and "Hello" to Lulu.
