Hi girls,
This is part question and part commentary. COVID has brought on quite a change in my routine and I now have to be even more discreet than ever with my wife working from home and the kids sometimes homeschooling. I have been thinking of downsizing my secret closet for quite a while, but I'm really not sure how to sell my accessories discreetly. In particular, I have TONS of shoes. Many don't even fit that well and most have been used only once for photoshoots. I've looked, but I haven't found a ''safe'' place to do these exchanges. Does anyone have any suggestions?
As for the commentary...I decided to try out FB Marketplace. I went all out and created a new email and FB profile for my feminine self. I created a few ads for the shoes and surprisingly got responses quite quickly. What I wasn't ready for was being hit on so much by strangers! About 2 thirds of the responses were people commenting on how ''beautiful'' I was and how they would like to meet me. I suddenly started feeling very uneasy about meeting people, even if it was for a sale. What I thought was weird, is that...as a man...I would never go up to a female selling something online and start to comment on how she looked and if she was interested in meeting up. But it seems that as a CD, some men felt it was appropriate to do so with me. I guess this was a lesson for me about living as a female...but I didn't expect it! Any of you have similar experiences?
I would either sell them on e-bay or donate them to a women's shelter. They can use clothes because sometime the women have to run away from an abuser and leave with the clothes on their backs. And they can use nice things to dress for job interviews. Just a thought.

Hi Stephanie..
sorry i cannot help you with your shoes. It's very sad you had so much unwanted attention, but from your story, two things are plain.....
Just how many predators are out there, and once again, what a superb job our wonderful " police " do in making this site the safe haven it is!!!!...

There is a site called "Vintage" , which you can sell on , or ebay.
Hi Stephanie
Too bad were not a bit closer as I am sure I could relieve you of part of your stash.
I I have heard of fraudulent activity on FB Marketplace here in NZ so I am not really suprised that creeps inhabit it as well.
As Celeste and Sandy have suggested Ebay may be your best bet.

Hi Stephanie,
In our area there are a few consignment shops that will sell clean items of clothing. The commission varies store to store. When sold you’ll be contacted and can take cash or store credit. Otherwise as others have suggested there is eBay.

eBay is where I have purchased a lot of used shoes. Also a sight called ThreadUp sells used shoes. I am sure you can sell them through either site.
Ebay is always a good alternative but I have 2 other marketplaces where you can sell almost anything. Mercari and Poshmark are worth looking into. Poshmark pays for shipping but charges a fee for each sale you make. Have sold several pairs of heels on the site myself and all the transactions went smoothly.
OMG...I'm not sure if I love you gals or hate you now! LOL. Not only have you pointed to me some great places to sell shoes...but now I am smitten with all the shoes available to buy! I don't think I'll ever get to downsize with so many lovely shoes out there!
I have never really tried Ebay as I still imagined it as an auction site. It does look however that most item you can simply purchase outright. Fantastic. I am locking up my credit card and will start putting some heels up for sale!
Thanks a whole bunch. This has been very helpful!
This reminds me, I might need to try to find at least some ladies tennis shoes. Maybe some hikers.
I also have an idea I might run by ate admins here.
