As some of you know I have just returned after another hiatus. My wife is again full accepting of my dressing which is amazing. She shocked me today in saying "do you think Katie needs a wig" As you can imagine absolutely over the moon and my femme name being used also accepting I need to evolve.
Does anyone have recommendations here in the UK of reasonably priced wigs.
Katie (very happy)
Hi Katie,
Greetings from another UK girl 🙂 I think I may have missed replying to your introduction thread, but I'm looking forward to getting to know you through posts and chat
I'd say it rather depends on what you consider to be reasonably-priced. I think the best 'bang for your buck' would probably come from the range of £20-£25 wigs sold on Amazon, there are lots of styles so you might be able to experiment a bit to see what suits and what doesn't. My first wigs were all just such. Having been shown a better style for me at a makeover though, I now buy just that model (from Racquel Welch's brand), which comes in around the £175-£200 mark when I can find it on sale. At that price you're still getting synthetic rather than human hair, but it's much much better made than the cheap ones, and looks really quite realistic.
Hugs,

Some sound advice from Fiona as that is how I started. As your wife is involved it could be an idea to get a glass of wine and go through the U.K. websites for wig retailers and viewing the styles available. Some sites give you pictures and even a quick web cam of a model wearing the wig. Then have a look at the cheaper styles available to find a comparable wig. The colour ranges are quite limited but it will give you a good idea on how things look on you.
That's lovely and we await the results.
As others have said, buy cheap from Temu, or somesuch, to find your style as they are many and varied. I wore my Temu wigs for a few months before investing in something better once I had an idea what I was looking for.
The cheap wigs tangle badly though so you will need a wide-toothed comb or brush. The hair is pretty awful quality but you'll only realise that when you buy a more expensive wig.
Once you have sorted out what style you want (whether you try the cheaper ones first or not), I can recommend SimplyWigs in the UK; I have bought two from them and am happy with both.
I was concerned about sizing before ordering as my head seems to verge on being 'large', a size for which the choice is more limited, however, I have found the 'normal' sizes to be fine and would suggest that that size would be ok for an even slightly larger head at a push and they always strectch a little after a few uses.
I can see by your last post that I am too late with this advice but never mind.
If you do go the more expensive route eventually, might I suggest you take note the style-name you are thinking of buying then go to Youtube and search there. That way you will get real people trying these wigs on in the real world and you can see what they actually look like rather than the sanitised version on the selling site.
