I was listening to an old Rush song today From 1981 Witch Hunt , and there was a verse that had so much relevance to me in many ways.  and reminds me of the French adage the more thing's change the more they stay the same.  but it just hit a nerve.

Quick to judge quick to anger slow to understand.

Ignorance, and prejudice and fear walk hand in hand.

@river In literature, this is called man's inhumanity to man.

I couldn't recognise most of Rush's music by title, so I YouTubed it. Don't know it, couldn't make out most lyrics, so I Geminied it:

"Witch Hunt" by Rush, from their 1981 album "Moving Pictures," is a song about the dangers of mob mentality and the persecution of those with unpopular views. The lyrics depict a crowd fueled by fear and lies, gathering under torchlight to burn and kill, highlighting the destructive nature of a "witch hunt" where individuals are targeted and persecutedThe song uses the historical image of a witch hunt to symbolize the dangers of blindly following authority and the importance of critical thinking.

Back in the 1980s, Geddy Lee visited our store every now and then. If only I knew then what I know now. 🤘

As an aside, we came home from a train ride late last night and our subway station was shoulder to shoulder with Leaf fans, Blue Jay fans, a what looked like Metallica concert goers all unleashed at the same time. Even though this is Canada, it wasn't an entirely friendly environment. Imagine.

@harriette Thanks for the information.   that all seems to have alot of relevance these days..

So cool Geddy would come in your store I've always been a fan.

I'm still getting over how terrible the Bruins were this year , I'll watch the final playoffs.  but ya that must have been pretty hostile.

have a great day RC

@river Yeah, Geddy came in a few times per year, not that we sat down to chew the fat. At the time I was more interested when Joe Rockman (Jeff Healey Band) came in. Not that I am into name dropping or anything. 🤩

Otherwise, the crowd was good, except for this one Metallica fan who must have liked hearing himself or showing off.

Hey Harriette! Another bass fan here. The Jeff Healey Band (RIP Jeff) are still among my regular plays. Geddy is often mentioned in bass tutorial videos, and rightly so.

@river Wasn’t one of the best lines ever written that one by the Who: “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.”?

Everytime I change my attitude I manage to get through whatever imaginary crisis has been manufactured, either by myself or the world at large.

I also never forget that there are a lot of soft-heads out there. And many of them are in charge of things RC.🤣

@gracepal I certainly do love that song. Soft heads is a good way to put it.   It's so easy to control when so many want to be controlled.

Its Nice that we here from all places in the world know where it's at and have our heads straight.  Cheers RC

@satiny Agreed he was an amazing writer.  Which reminds me I wanted to read his book. Ghost Rider travels on the healing road.  thank you for the inadvertant  reminder.  🙂 Cheers RC

All the more reason to be out and proud. Ignorance thrives in the dark, so being out in the light lets other see CD/trans people are just people who happen to be very slightly different. We are all 99.99% the same, but the .01% difference is we dress or act so very slightly different.

@jjandme Right .  there are so many that are very different and in a bad way.  It's OK for someone to be a criminal but oh don't be trans. or don't dress differently.   people's morals are all messed up these days. Thank You. RC
