There is something I have always wanted to try en femme but have always been petrified to do.

I want to book an appointment to try on wedding dresses.

I have been in public dressed before but it has always been in little to no interactions situations like the movies or trying on clothes in the department store. I've even made purchases dresses and have used the womans room plenty of times. What scares me about wedding dresses is I would have to talk to them and possibly undress at which point I would be outed my female voice is not perfect, I can get by with it but not for long. I have read that most the time they don't care and just treat you like any other customer. But I feel like I will need to be upfront and tell them Im a CD. Which scares me a little because I havent told anyone besides the people on this site who only know my female persona.

What advise can you give me to make me feel at ease and possibly fulfill a fantasy of mine?

Thanks you!

-Chloe

I would say yes, be up front and explain as they will need to help you with the dress and any under skirts etc and you will definitely need to undress in front of them.

My biggest "objection" (can't think of any other word) would be that, especially at the moment, appointments are sparse and specialist retailers are struggling financially and to book a fitting and take up time for you just to try on dresses with no intention of possibly purchasing them doesnt seem fair on the vendor.  No everyone purchases a wedding dress from the stores they try on at, but the vendors are all trying to secure business and doing their best to make a sale which you would have no intentions of making so it may be worthwhile explaining that as well in case they can slot you in at a quiet time or to see if they are happy to do so.

It may not be a problem, I just hate wasting peoples time.

I worked in an upmarket clothes shop many decades ago and we would occasionally have a CD in trying things on. I always really enjoyed being on the fitting room (in fact, my manager would often send me as none of the other girls really wanted to help).

But...as Mandy says, at the moment, things are a little different.

For bridal shops, after you've tried on any dresses they'd probably have to go into quarantine for 72 hours. Which means that a bride that might actually be interested in trying a particular dress on - to buy - might not have the chance.

So I'd probably be inclined to wait a while until all this blows over.

Have fun when you do though!
