@abby24 Hi Abigail, I totally agree with the advice already given, in particular getting a makeover with explanations of what is going on. You don't have to buy everything they recommend on the first occasion. One hint though - try to pay attention to what the makeover artist is telling you! I got so thrilled and taken up with my first such experience that at the end I found I remembered little of what I was told. More recently I have had several small help sessions in cosmetics shops, each focussing on one or two different aspects. This has helped me to remember (and then practice!!) what has been explained to me. Good luck and enjoy it 😀 .

You are young, so take your time. Hopefully, that will help you make fewer mistakes, help you grow with confidence, and maybe not waste your money.

Hey Abigail, I hope you got some useful advice before the girls totally hijacked your thread. Don't take it personally, it happens all the time, and always the same culprits 😂. Although I'm going to be getting my first forms in a couple of weeks and I'll make sure I look out for magnetic boobs 😂 xx

@abby24 As I think someone has already said, don't bother going for any brands you've heard of - Dior, Fenty etc. until you know exactly what you're doing, unless (like me) you get an in-store MUA to show you, and they'll most likely make their recommendations based on commission.  Whatever own-brand your pharmacy sells should be fine - in the UK that would be something like No.7 from Boots, but I don't know if you have Boots in Germany.

@abby24 Hi Abby,

If you're going to do it on your own, then:

  • Primer
  • Foundation (color matching on your own will be tough)
  • Mascara
  • Lipstick/Lip stain/Lip gloss
  • Eyeshadow
  • Eyeliner
  • Brushes and/or sponges for applying the above

If you're feeling extra adventurous, then maybe some glue or magnetic false lashes.

Over here, it's not uncommon to pop in to a makeup store and have a professional help with the coloring of the above. Not sure how it may be in Germany.

Good luck!

@abby24 It's going to go in stages. Work the basics first and then start to refine your look. Get different things - a dress, a skirt, a couple of tops, some pants....see what you like on you.

Get a measuring tape and get your measurements, I keep these handy always! 🙂

The magnetic eyelashes come with a small pot of magnetic liquid or gel liner containing iron oxide. You put this on first, applying it in the same way as you would apply eyeliner. The magnetic eyelashes are attracted to it.

You don't have to muck about with glue 🙂

The lashes are easy to apply and remove, and you can reuse them 🙂

@ellyd22 @fembecky Exactly this ↑

I prefer magnetic because while glue will stick anywhere it's put, the magnets only stick to where you put the liner. 🙂

@abby24 I've worn my magnetic lashes, hmm...maybe 16hrs? On very rare occasions, you might need to reapply it (I've had this happen 2x in over 60 uses), but you can just toss the liner in your purse so no biggie there. 🙂

They would attach easily to cars. You could have exploding eyelashes, or ones containing trackers ... depending on what outcome you wanted. It would be a simple matter to leave a nightclub, peel off a lash and attach it to an undercarriage when no-one was looking.

Miss Lewis has observed the exchange from a distance and raised a (magnetic) eyebrow in consternation, hoping that no state secrets have inadvertently been leaked to unauthorised parties.

Customer research shows little demand for magnetic eyebrows.

However, I now have a MUCH BETTER idea - Magnetic Bra Straps! Just paint a liner containing magnetic particles onto each shoulder, and the magnetic foil in each bra strap will stop the straps falling down. Brilliant. I am already working on variants: standard and premium versions etc.

[The idea came to me in the bath. All boffins know that the best ideas originate in the bath. After all, where would the world be today if Archimedes had only had access to a power shower?]

@ellyd22 Now that's a good idea, but we will have to upgrade the production line to use neodymium magnets especially for larger breast sizes.

We could make them electromagnetic, with an on-off pushbutton switch tucked into the user's navel.

It would make them very easy to attach and remove 🙂

Great idea. Long life batteries would be required, or perhaps we could use a miniaturised radioactive energy implant to provide lifelong power 🤗 .

@ellyd22

I have given this a lot of thought but I do have a few reservations. I know that I personally am prone to forgetting to recharge my phone at times, so what would happen if I forgot to recharge my breasts? I shudder to think of the look of consternation on the faces of my fellow commuters on the 07:25 train into London when they see the 'low power warning LEDs' starting to flash through my blouse, or their horror when I inadvertently exclaim "Help, my breasts are about to fall off". Of course, we could persuade the train operating companies to install breast-level contactless recharging plates on the trains, though Rebecca blushes at the thought of having to say to a fellow commuter on a crowded commuter train (in her best female voice) "Excuse me sir, could you move aside a little to allow me to recharge my breasts".

But while we are on the subject of magnetic accessories, here is my best idea yet: MAGNETIC EARRINGS. It saves all the pain or permanency of having your ears pierced, and they  will be far more comfortable to wear than clip-ons 😊 .

@fembecky Magnetic earrings are already a thing 🙂  You can buy them on Amazon.  I looked into them and read a lot of reviews saying the magnets are so strong that they hurt really badly and, of course, you can't adjust them like you can clip-ons.  Unless I'm missing a point of deliberate irony here ... ? 🤔

I look forward to the day when I might be able to get my ears pierced.  Actually I look forward more to the day some weeks afterwards, when the holes have healed and I can take the initial studs out and wear whatever earrings I like 😊

Well, I didn't know that! Interesting ... I hadn't even thought of looking into the possibility they existed, but I guess they involve 2 magnets, one either side of the ear lobe, so I guess they could hurt. My silly suggestion was based (in my mind) on the same concept as the magnetic eyelashes: paint a layer of magnetic liquid or gel liner containing iron oxide onto the ear lobe, then tiny magnets in the earrings would adhere to the ear! Voila! Simples! No pain!

BTW - there was no irony intended in the previous post (apart, that is, from the ferro-magnetic content of this entire sub-topic 😉 ).

@fembecky I walked into that one didn't I 🙄  I guess they would already have tried the gel idea given that it exists though, probably the weight limit that a small -ish contact spot will support wouldn't be enough to make any decent earrings within.  Lashes are a different matter though, much more contact area relative to the weight.

I have a pair of magnetic lashes that are a huge PITA to put on.  Different style though.  There's a top and bottom that go under and over your natural lashes.  Requires careful alignment to get them to stay put.

So are these magnetic lashes really that easy to put on?  I'm terrible with liquid eyeliner.  I envision magnetic racoon eyes.

Will they stay put when I apply mascara?

Perhaps I should forego the lashes and stick with my magnetic personality?

@emilyalt I've read that the sandwich type are not good for your natural lashes - I forget the ins and outs of it, but I've not used them.

Like all things, practice, practice, practice. When I started, my liner lines were comically wide by comparison to today, however, the lash is going to cover most of that anyway. I wouldn't worry too much about your ability to apply eyeliner here. Draw line, apply lash - done.

I have, but don't usually use mascara on my top lashes, only bottom, but if you're going to use it up top just do so first, then apply the lashes.

I'd agree your personality is plenty....but I mean having lovely lashes can't be wrong, can it? Happy Woman Face

@emilyalt I use KISS brand, just FYI. On Amazon you can get 3 pair for about $12, and the liner for maybe another $6. I've seen magnetic lashes in stores for $20/$30 each. I've not tried them as the Amazon ones certainly seem to do the job for me, but YMMV.

Happy hunting!

@emilyalt  agree, the double lash is a pain.they make a single layer magnetic lash that goes on top. Put a magnetic eyeliner on first and the lash adheres.  Once in place they stay on and are easily peeled off   Since I’m old and unsteady of hand, I use a clear magnetic eyeliner.  Black would look like a road map thru the mountains.  I have not used extra mascara but my makeover girl applied once.   Always good to have a fallback personality. 🤩

@fembecky they are great. You apply a liner containing magnetic grains first. The lash has metic grains on it. I love them but a small warning. The liner is tough to remove. Not impossible, just harder than normal mascara.

You can access all types of fashions and have them delivered to your door, including shoes. It is more fun to try in person, but might be best to wait on that until you have a strategic plan of where to go, ie which stores are safest.

If you are going all in, then start at a professiinal make uo counter and ask advice. Better yet schedule a make over and have your makeup artist (MUA) walk you through what she uses and why. She can give you a list of products that you can purchase. Some MUAs will do the make over for free if you buy a cwrtain amount of product.

The same with clothing, simple ask the SA for help. Places like Victoria's Secret are great at helping CDs find, tey on and purchase intimates. Most dress shops will do the same. I have never encountered a provlem from SAs when shopping, and if I did I would simply go to a different store to.spend my money.

Most of all, have fun. It is a fun and enjoyable experience once you get over the nerves. I have always found SAs are happy to help, and actually seem to enjoy helping CDs.

Hey Abigail, some great advice from all the lovely ladies here. I think the key thing is to take your time. There's no rush. You have a lifetime of femme exploring to do and it's all fun. Enjoy the journey.

At the risk of hijacking your thread, my big 10 days is almost upon me and I'd really love to try false lashes. For those of you proposing magnetic lashes, where exactly do you paint the magnetic eyeliner? Does it also take the place of regular eyeliner? Thanks girls xx.

I think you should start with wearing the basics  a woman wears a bra and panties every day.  I think you should definitely start with picking out a few bras and panties for  your self to wear  daily.  When you are wearing a bra with panties you will feel very femmin about yourself and you  will  find that  every thing  comes  naturally after that.
