This is my eternal question. Does anyone have a trick for covering beard shadow? I was looking at pics of myself and no matter how I try, I cant conceal the beard shadow. I don’t have an overly thick beard compared with others but I can’t get rid of it. I’ve shaved twice with a new razor and tried a little red lipstick before applying foundation but it’s always there. I’m sure this has been discussed many times in the past but not recently. I feel the blue tint on my face is as thick as my pink fog at the moment. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Mehron Performance Makeup's "Clown Pink," also know as "pink goo," works well, especially covering darker beards. The pink coloring of the makeup counteracts with the beard's more bluish tint. A small amount of goo goes a long way, and it's easy to apply with just a cosmetic sponge and a few dabs smoothed over the mustache and beard area.
Exactly, Mehron. They also make a stick neutralizer. I only have facial hair on my upper lip and chin, and its not very dense. I use a bit of coral blush to cover.
Jecca Blac also makes a good beard cover. I bought some from Amazon.
I tried the red lipstick trick, meh, no so good.
Look at a color wheel. depending on the shade of your beard, you may want a more orange or pink cover than true red. Go to an Ulta or Sephora and see if they can give some suggestions also.
Using a proper beard cover and a foundation that looks correct for your skin tone is key.
When shopping for foundation, match it to the inside of your wrist. That's going to be close to your natural color all year. That part doesn't tan much compared to the rest of your body.
Use a good, dense, moist sponge, put the cover on the sponge and "twist" the sponge into your shadow while applying. Work that over your shadow until you're covered. Then you can apply the foundation.
Give that a go, good luck sweetie.

Maybelline makes an orange camo pen that i use. First, a primer, I use maybelline, then I apply the orange to the blue beard area as well as to some shadow I've always got under my eyes, then Concealer over the orange, I use one from NYX, then my foundation, and go from there. I'm usually happy with the result. You want to use a color that's opposite to your color you're trying to hide, then cover it and blend blend blend.

DermaBlend Foundation
For a flawless complexion, Dermablend Cover Creme Foundation is custom made to cover that pesky five o'clock shadow. It's important to start with a clean, close shave before application. Dab the Dermablend with a cosmetic sponge, adding a bit more coverage to the beard and mustache area. This product comes in many skin tones and is found online or in makeup stores. DermaBlend also works well with scars, skin discoloration and birthmarks.
PanStick
Max Factor's PanStick has been a popular item for beard coverage over the years. The foundation offers maximum coverage, is waterproof and easy to take on and off. This product works best on a clean -- and clean-shaven -- well-moisturized face. Using a cosmetic sponge, blend the entire face and set with facial powder using a large makeup brush. The product may be discontinued in the United States but can be ordered online.
Here is my regimen for beard cover :
- primer
- mehron beard cover. As someone said before, use a colour that closely matches your skin. This sets the tone for the rest of the items you will layer on top.
- hard candy heavy concealer. I picked a colour that is a tad darker but being a cheapskate I am gonna use it all up first before moving onto a lighter colour concealer.
- dermablend/dermacolour. I actually went into the store and asked about it, and she found a colour that is very close to mine so I've been using that colour since.
- annabelle concealer. I use salmon/peach colour (kinda orangy).
- then foundation.
Once this is all done, I do notice it does cover it well. but by 5 pm, I can see little stubbles growing.
And yes, a good shave before applying all this.
Problem with mine is my facial hair is very coarse.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I’ve got some shopping to do. I’ve been to try to get by with what I have but it’s just not right. Ive seen pictures here and wondered how they got that coverage. Going to try the mehron and the dermablend for sure. Looking forward to giving it a shot. Thanks
