Another thing that will indicate I am all in is my nails. My natural nails are not that great and they curve when they get long. I will someday get some acrylic nails and get them done at a salon. But until then I must be content with polish only and maybe some glue on fake nails...which by the way are hard to find in my size.
So what do you do with your nails? What is the longest you have gone with them done pretty, if you are not already full time? How do you care for them and what is your go to style?
My everyday nails have a very light shade of pink that is almost undetectable except in very bright and direct sunlight. If not that, I often wear just a clear coat to help protect them and reduce cracks...another disadvantage of getting old, cracked, and brittle nails.
The longest I have worn a bold color was on a recent trip to Europe. After I left a friend's house in The Netherlands I painted them a bold burgundy for about a week throughout Scotland and England. The only comment I got was "What a lovely colour".
I get my nails done at a solon, I usually keep them for a few days. I try to keep them as long as I can, my wife does not like them long and tells me to cute them. I try to keep them as long as I can. I just love painted nails.
Lacy,
I feel you I love to have my nails done, and my wife loves to get her nails done. I don't like the price of it. So I watched a few youtube videos and went to amazon and bought stuff for me to do our nails. I use tips and dip powder to do them and it is a weekly thing. I do our nails about twice a month as they grow out and every weekend we pick a color and paint each others nails. It turned out to be a win win situation. We get our nails done and I get to save money. It is not as hard as it look especially with dip powder.
My nails have been about 5 mm long and painted white, black, pink, blue, red, trans flag.
I used a hardener as a base coat, 2 of them, then 3 coats of color, and then 2 top coats.
I change colour every week. This has been going on for 7 months now.

My nails are pretty much always painted now (currently black), but I can't grow them out long. I work on a computer most of the day and longer nails would affect my ability to type. I do have several sets of longer glue-on nails that I'll wear for special occasions. I've been painting my toenails even longer lol I kinda hate my feet so if I can make them look a little bit prettier I'm all for it
Hi Lacy,
I have been letting my nails get a little longer for about a year. The problem is they usually break when they get to the length I want. I told my wife how much I love to paint them, and she offered me her nail polish. I don’t get out dressed, but when I know I’m going to be home for a few days I paint them. Usually with a clear coat base, two color coats, then another clear coat on top. So far they are mostly just even with my finger tips, or just slightly past for length. I would love it if I could get them longer. I have had them pink, black, blue, and red so far.
Hi girls. I asked a similar question a few weeks ago. I'm a bit obsessed with trying false nails for the first time, but it all sounds a bit complicated. Can you get pre-coloured stick on nails that don't require glue? One lovely lady recommended Kiss Impress nails but I got a bit confused by their website and couldn't see any that didn't need nail glue separately xx.
I love pretty nails. Not too long that you can't do anything without them getting in the way but I'd love to paint them red or pink or just fun colors. Fake nails seem to be the way to go and I'd be into that if I could be full-time dressed.
I too go to a nail salon to keep them shaped cut and coated usually in a clear polish. When stepping out en femme I paint both my toes and fingers and love the colors of the session or events. I do wear kiss fake nails when I want the long nail experience at home or going out and feel so feminine just looking at them. I now can type and do most anything naturally with long nails except putting on nylons. If you havent worn long fake nails then I recommend you try them and see the difference it makes
Love this topic! I’ve been keeping my nails painted for years and now the only time they are not is when I can’t find a color that fits my mood. One tip of advice is always start with a clear base coat so that the color doesn’t stain your nails. For durability, I use 4 coats. Base, two color, and a top. I can generally get two weeks that way. Also take your time for the coats to dry in between.
I’ve tried many glue on brands and the only ones I’ve found that last more than a day are the kiss brand. Favorite length is long! You have to glue onto clean dry nails if you want them to last. I put four drops of glue at the corners of my nail then a single drop in the middle of the false. Small drops!!! No one wants glue everywhere!!!
Lastly, if you want strong, long lasting long nails. Acrylic dip is the way to go! I got mine done last year and it was the greatest nail experience I’ve ever had. They were long but felt so natural. Had them for over a month with no issue.
I live in a small conservative farming town, and I’ve only had positive comments about my nails. So my last advice is if you want painted nails, just do it! Life is too short!!!
