It's time to select a wig.  Does anyone have advice for me in terms of color, length, etc?  Is there a good website that helps you select one based on face shape, eye color, or whatever?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

hi eve. great topic, I love wigs! in terms of choice, there are loads to choose from. it really is a matter of personal choice. I like long wigs but be warned! they take a lot of maintenance as they can get knotted up really easily. brushing is essential, but dont be too harsh, be gentle. as regards to colour, its blonde all the way for me as I have blue eyes, but of course brunette wigs would be great too, I just prefer blonde, that's my personal choice. the shape of your face also matters as some people look better in short wigs, I think experimentation is the key.

Daniella,

Thanks for those links, I'll be needing a new wig soon too. Looks like shoulder length side part will work for me or at least a starting point to think about what one would work.  My Avatar is  10 dollar wig that's had it and very limited make up skills LOL. New an learning...

Love

Lisa 🙂

Hi Lisa,

I did a lot of research before I purchased my first wig.

I think the best thing I did was google images of women I like regarding their hair and fashion style. Like Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren etc.

I want to soften my features so I  like wigs that frame the face and hide the jaw line.

Makeup, hair, fashion, presenting yourself as a woman is an ongoing learning experience.

I don't know what your budget is for a wig but The Breast Form Store does have a good selection.

There is an app called Hairstyle Lite that gives you an initial set of 15 styles from very short to very long.  They’re quite willing to sell you more libraries of styles, lol, but it seems like a great introduction.  Note, take time to carefully line up your features with the template—it makes a big difference in whether or not a given style works!  The images can be saved, then reused in a makeover app for lots of fun, and getting some ideas. ☺️

My best experience with this was going to a wig store. The owner and her assistant were very helpful in showing me different styles, colors and lengths that suited me and created different but essentially pretty looks.

It was a little hard walking in, but I was far from the first crossdresser to come to her store and I am sure not the last. Most wig stores are like this, in my experience. They aren't worried about your gender, they are worried about getting you the prettiest wig they can and selling it to you. They made me feel comfortable and valued.

Good luck.

Millie

Here's a great link for this:   https://enfemmestyle.com/blog/how-to-choose-the-right-crossdressing-wig-style-for-your-face

Agree with others though, nothing beats going to a wig store and trying on a few to see what you think !

Hi Eve,  I have found the sites enfemmestyle and feminzationsecrets both extremely helpful.  Have not tried a wig shop yet but it is on my list.  hugs, Michelle

I went to a wig shop. They knew right away what would work for me. It was perfect. In fact when my wife recently saw me dressed for the very first time the ONLY thing that she liked about it was the wig.
