How does one go about choosing a color of pokish for nails? Is it as simple as picking a color you like? Or is there more to it?

I currently keep my nails taken care of and cleaned (toe nails too). I use a clear strengthening polish to top them off and keep them nice. (Comes in handy since i work in the oil snd gss inustry - makes it way easier to keep my nails clean, but they do get scuffed and damaged alot)
A couple weeks ago i was having a bad day (electric breaker went out and lowes didnt have the style - no longer in production - house is out of date/ out of code - thats a whole other mess) anyways, i bought a couple things, and the clerk commented on my fingernails being pretty. It caught me by surprise and managed to stutter out a thank you at the compliment. Made me super happy though, just that little bit went a long way.

I typically try to match my outfit when chosing a color. Now if I am wearimg solid black or solid white, I go in a different direction. If I'm wearing solid white, I tend to go with a favotite color. Mostly pink or red, sometimes a purple. If Im wearing solid black, I tend to go a little bolder. I really like lime green with my solid black dress. It pops. I also do a fluorescent orange or yellow, and the old stand by hot pink. The solid black dress and black heels really set off the flouresent or bright colors.....In my opinion.

Thats good to know about the white and black dresses. I will remember the information though. We're (the wife and i) are going out to the city later this month and she said we might go do some shopping if time allows (excited about that)
That's awesome on the shopping trip. Hope you have fun and find some pretty outfits. And for me when I say solid white its just that......all white no designs. I also have a couple that are white with flowers. One has orange flowers, one has pale pink flowers. With those, I try to match the flowers.

I do like a color that stands out a bit. Something that looks pretty and says you are a girl.

I only get my toes painted and usually go with a color that matches the season or a holiday. This route allows for some level of excuse should I have to defend myself for having painted toes.
Interesting post! Tomorrow I am going out with my niece for a mani/peti. I will likely pick a pink for the toes, since that is what I did previously. Maybe I will do a hot pink this time instead of a softer pink. When it comes to the fingers I have thought and thought, I would like them obviously painted in an color, but have something I can still wear in drab mode. Then it came to me, my college team is likely the best team they have had in 100 years. So maybe get my nail done in cardinal and gold (red and yellow) with An I S U on the nails. I am SOOOOO excited and scared for this.

I keep mine professionally shaped and cut now. When out in male mode I wear clear polish but love light colors during the day when out as debbie and darker nails for evenings and parties. I like most girls really notice peoples nails
Sometimes when I pick colors from the bottle, I dont like how they look on my fingers and toes. I think it just takes a lot of experimentation to find your winners.
I have that issue too on occasions Robyn. My goal is too match my outfit mostly, with exception of some plain colors as I mentioned below. I hold the bottle next to my outfit and as you said I think its the perfect match until I put it on. Then no, the shade is off, it dont stand out like I thought, its not dark enough,etc.... so off it comes and let's pick another bottle. Only takes about 2 fingers for me to figure out that is not what I wanted.

My toes and fingers have been painted all summer I use a color called pink cloud. The brand is named Pure. With a lite application it looks like your nails are natural in color. I top coat with a mate finish.

I love to have my fingers and toes painted but I quit using liquid polish now I use Color Street it lasts longer.
I usually go with a color I like and my fingers and toes are different colours
So ive decided on what color to get... okay, COLORS
Why pick just one?
Wife is going to pick up a poppy red (love the color red), orange and black (for Halloween next month), and indigo blue (my wifes favorite color)
Just my toenails though, still clear coat for my fingernails
I usually have my toenails painted and often do them in multi colours, though red of one shade or another is a fav. I do my fingernails from time to time, but I have other family living with me who don't know about Amy, so that is always for short periods of time only.
Next week I'm going out wearing open toed blue heels with a matching skirt and am looking for a colour to that matches my shoes to do my toenails in. I haven't decided if I'll do the same colour on my fingernails yet. Depends on the shade I suppose.
