Hi Girls,

Could you please share your experience with the products? I need very lite concealer with very good coverage. I use Thin Lazzy now but I am not happy with it, it makes a cake on my face and is very thick and does not cover well. After I am done with it I look like old prostitute. My skin is very rough and I need something to cover it like foundation does. I need to make it blank almost white mask in short and then do finish on it (powders, bronzer, powders, etc.) Do you know any branded product so I can get it locally. It is expensive to try things and I cannot just go to the store and ask nice lady to advise 😉

I think you should reconsider visiting a makeup counter. I know it's difficult but I feel you will find it not bad at all once you have done it, maybe even-I wish I had done this earlier.

I have friends who go in as males and all have received wonderful and respectful service.

By doing this you will receive professional service, the correct product and tone for your skin. Your goal is to look Great so this is a perfect place to start-the foundation.

Personally I use Lancome and love there products but there are many quality brands out there.

I am very close friends with several ladies who work at makeup counters and they will truly help a male-no problems-no questions-no judgments.

I think you should visit a makeup counter and get some help.

The cakey look can be the result of a number of things.

And it is best to get some direction on moisturizers, primers, the best foundation for your skin and application. You can get a total different application with hands, sponge or brush.

For the cakey look you can try to sheer it down with a moist sponge like a beauty blender or add some moisturizer to your brush and blend it in.

I would limit the amount of powder you are using. Powder can settle in wrinkles and rough patches and can ruin your foundation.

Foundation is not intended to conceal so if you have real rough skin you may want to consider stage makeup like Mehron.

But getting some advise is best to reduce frustration and cost.

This may or may not help you but I always start with  Benefit Porefessional primer it helps smooth out your pores then  I use concealer - foundation - setting spray ( let that dry)  then a light application of setting powder.

I think the primer really gives a good base to start with.

This is quite good link. I have ordered "Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer" and will check it out, one by one I will find the good fit. My biggest issue is the shave, but I have got some correctors and will see how it will go. It is a time to start looking after the skin.

I have found that the product can be silicone or water based. Cannot be mixed. This made so big difference.

Hi Tara,

Although a good concealer can help with your makeup you may need additional help.

If your skin is really rough maybe you could use a facial mask. These are made with baking soda and coconut oil.  Some use a little sugar and/or lemon. (all items can be found in the grocery store) These are for facial cleaning and persons with large pores,  You can find this on the Pinterest web site.  You may also benefit from a good moisturizer.  Plain coconut oil will soften your skin, Good luck sweetie.

Tara I use Cover Girl products hun.  First I only put the concealer where I need, to hide the shadows I place it on and blend it with my finger.  I prefer my finger so I can feel the direction to apply so I do not go against any hair that may be left after a really tight shave.  I use a whiter and bluer color than my foundation.  It covers good so do not put it on really heavy. This is what I use.

https://www.covergirl.com/en_us/beauty-products/face-makeup/concealer/ready-set-gorgeous-oil-free-concealer

Then I use a little transparent powder to set it.  Next I apply a very light layer of foundation.  Again with my fingers and I blend it out so it is very smooth and light.  Some like a brush or sponge to apply but I like to use my finger.  I dab and blend out so it is not on heavy.  This is what I Use I like the color just a hint darker than my skin in winter about the same as in summer.

Again I set is with some transparent powder and a brush.  Very light just to make it feel dry.

Then for some color I Use Cover Girl Instant Cheekbones.  I apply lightly not to much it will change the face but not to much or the color is bold and makeup looking.  Light color in the dark creases and over the dark shadow areas.  Medium for a very very light cover over the rest of the face gives some color and then the dark color for the cheek bones little blush look.  This is what I use.

Again when putting on makeup it is to help smooth and hide little imperfections makeup should not go on heavy and any time.  Some day I would love to try the air blush it applies the makeup even finer and with better coverage.

Remember makeup takes time and trial and error no two faces are the same (similar but not the same).  Have fun hope this helps.

I have got good moisturiser with bee venom, this makes wonders! Then collagen cream and this does its job too. So after a week the face is already better. I have got as well good colour corrector set for my shave area and proper contouring set. I am as well waiting for primers with correctors so can fix it right at the beginning, like green, pore cover, pink, etc. So I hope to be able to correct all the bad areas and then cover it up well. I let you know how it goes.

Hi, some improvement. I have got quality primers from Maybelline (the one for pores, green and pink one), then “Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer” and proper correctors and contour set. Once primed properly, corrected what was needed, then done the "Milani" foundation, this is nice and light product and it covered me nicely without this super heavy look. Then I have put on foundation in powder on the top and all of it settled very nicely with nice healthy glow. Then done my contour and highlighting, bronzer and blush and. 10 year younger ; ).

Faille,

I have found simple thing. Ebay has counterfeit products. I had a lipstick which melted in the purse ;). So I stopped buying cheap and I stay on branded products from legitimate sources. Then figured out that my main problem was bad skin. As suggested here I have got good creams and moisturiser. I use callogen cream and moisturiser with bee venom for the night. This fixed the skin with regural soda products under the shower.

Next would shave. If I overshave the skin is in pain, blood is pissing out everywhere and the face is untouchable. So had to learn how to do good shave without damage.

Next would be primer. I was using age rewing but it was not for my shoe skin. I have got separate primers for filling up the pores, then green one to remove redness and pink one for highlighting. Once the skin is primed then it is ready for makeup. My mistake was to put a "glue" on it, the reason here was bad skin. Once the skin is happy then it does not need so much product. I still use foundation mixed with concealer in one as I need to hide the shave area. This will not hide without color corrector. So before I did foundations I did correct blue shave area, bags under my eyes, etc. Then once it is dry I needed to apply my foundation. Normally I use my fingers and tap it in. Fingers are warm so it stays warm once applied. I do not rub it in as it will destroy the correction. Then rest of the face I rub in. Then let it dry. It worked out so well that I did not need any counceeler at all. So once the face is blank I have applied powder foundation to set it in. I use soft brush here. Once done go for contours. Again applied with a brush. This as well will contain highlighting. Then bronzer and blushing. Then eyes and lips. Unfortunately all of this is learning for long hours so you need to try until you work it out. I suggest to watch youtube and learn hew ladies do their eyes, "pump" the lips with different colours, contours, etc. It is faster than working it out on your own. Unfortunately I need eye brow cut and this is unavoidable.

Have a fun ;), once you done with this bit then the wig makes it go. Here cheap wig looks cheap. So I had to get expensive one before it works together. Next one will be human hair as my synthetic requires work each time.

Have you tried any of the Ben Nye concealers?  They’re made for actors and actresses, but are great for concealing anything from beard shadow to tattoos.  I like the Five O’Sharp, which is a great base to start with to make sure there is no beard shadow show through.  Then you can put on whatever foundation or makeup you like over that.

I figure, if it’s good enough for Hoollywood, it’s good enough for me.  Plus, if you’re worried about being embarrassed buying makeup, just tell them your doing a play or whatever.  Every actor wears stage makeup.

Correction- Just tell the you’re doing a play or whatever.

Sorry, I’m a teacher.  The whole your/you’re thing is something I always complain about when my students do, and I just noticed I did it.  I must be slipping.
