One of the things I strive for is nail polish (toes & fingers) that nearly matches my lipstick or vice versa. I've been observing many girls who don't even match their fingers to their toes. Somehow, that doesn't feel right! What are your thoughts? What do you strive for? Why not coordinate your colors?
I always match my toes and finger nails! Always~
I agree Emma, finger nails and toe nails always and the closest lipstick 💄 shade also.
I rarely coordinate my fingers and toes and would not plan at all to have my lipstick match either. Personally I don't think it's a big deal on the fingers and toes and most women I see or know do not have theirs matching. My tastes in finger and toenail colors would put me in a clown like appearance if my lipstick were to match.
If you're a bright red lipstick person then bright red toes and fingernails would be fine but I have too many different shades of what I consider unconventional choices. Some of those colors are green, off blue, black, matte black, white, yellow, gray and even multi colors. With many of these colors I think it might be difficult to pull off coordinated lipstick but a lot depends on your outfit and accessories!
Just my thinking...

I paint my nails in 5 different colours. More bright pink, purple, yellow and orange in the summer and more sparkly in the winter just because it's what I like. I guess that means my lipstick might match 1 finger or toe on each hand, but it doesn't matter to me. Whatever matches the outfit is more important.
While I do love it when the everything matches I find it is for certain outfits only. General day wear for me doesn't need any coordination.
I get what you are saying but talking to my stylist when I get my manicure and pedicure you go with a darker color on your toes, especially in summer when in sandals, to hide anything that get on your feet when walking and lighter on the finger.
Like the paints I have now they are blue, a dark blue for the toes and more sky blue for the fingers. I think they compliment each other quite fine.
The problem with coordinating your nails with your lips is that you would have to remove your nail polish a lot. I guess most girl just don't really want to be trouble doing that.
I pretty much stay with all pink most all the time.. I know, a little boring, but I just like it. Various shades of pink for toes and fingers, but, hardly vary from that. I may go with a lighter red, or darker pink so it isn't too much of a stretch with a slightly different color pink or lighter red lipstick. I like an almost skin tone pink lipstick, very subdued, and avoid the blues, and all the other colors. I do wear sky blue polish on toes, if I get bored of the pink, and usually won't wear lipstick then, and if I do, it would be again, that real pale pinkish lipstick.
Saw a video last night with a woman who also had suttle pink eye shadow that looked great with pink nail polish and lipstick.
I do vary my colours, not strictly to match my clothing either. A neutral Red or Pink is a good start as it will go with most things, toes and fingers can be different colours!!! there are no rules here! 🙂 . I think inevitably that there will be a shade or two darker or lighter than your lipstick, its no biggie really. A good tip, if you are after absolute perfection is to get a white piece of card and smudge all your lipstick individually, taking note of the brand, colour etc and do the same with your nail varnish, like a kind of colour matching chart. You can then see at a glance what colours are very similar and which are not as its hard to judge in the bottle or with lipstick.

Emma,
I can't remember how many times this subject has come up so it must be important??
I normaly make sure that lips and nails match my outfit or accessories but have recently took a fancy to more unusual coloured lipsticks, vampire, brick and spanked (honest), so my new mantra is that everything goes with black or faux french nails.
I never paint my toes as my ugly nails are better hidden with a pair of thick socks and hiking boots 🙂
