When I went for a makeover, the stylist had me try on a couple wigs, and the bob cut seemed to really help my face, and feel more age appropriate. When I got home I kept thinking I could cut one of my older wigs to try it out, before I spend the money on a new wig.
Thank God for Youtube! A simple search and I found several videos on cutting a long wig into a bob. The first step was SO easy, and with a little trimming of some unrully parts, it had the general shape.
I wore it out to my CD support meeting and got several compliments, including, "YOU cut that yourself?!"
The first step is to split the hair at the back, use all the hair to make two pigtails, with the rubber band just below your ideal length. Take the scissors just above the rubber band and whack it off. (Very satisfying!) Trim up any loose parts, and I was ready to go!
There are a lot of other steps to make it a more realistic bob, but this was good enough to get the look and see that it worked for me.
